I'm not demanding anything.

I said he has been a flat by his standards. His standard over the first half of the season was roughly 200m, plus 40-50 tackles, plus a dozen decoy runs, plus a handful of passes before the line. The kind of efforts that saw him take out the VB Hard Earned Award last year.

Maybe it is all tactics and load management. Maybe he's playing less minutes, and letting guys like Leniu pick up some of the slack. But from my POV, he hasn't been as involved as he usually would, and his impact hasn't been as good either.

I'm not trashing the guy, he's my favorite player. He could take a shit in the bed, and I'd still lay in it and spoon him.
I would like to think it’s tactics, we really can’t have JFH spent before the finals are here. His numbers are incredible for a front rower and as much as a machine he is it’s surely not possible to keep it up without fatigue setting in. It is a shorter season but you can’t go 100mph the whole time, be good for Leota to get an increase in minutes before finals come round as long as his hammy is good to go.
There is definitely a dip in our middle defenders when Tamou and JFH are off so better to get that sorted now before finals are here, give the minutes to Zane,Leota and Spencer. Tell them to rip in and keep running hard but pick up the line speed. It’s all about the 1%s now, the 10 minutes before and after half time need work.

Very sensible thoughts. In swimming they call it tappering. I've heard Ivan and players talk about managing players work loads when training.

I believe this is part of a greater plan.

I can’t say I’ve noticed any drop in performance from JFH. There are games where sometimes 150 metres are as good as 200 metres in others it’s just depends on the game, minutes played and other factors. We know he is supremely fit and I’m sure he is all good.

JFH has gone from averaging 189m in the first 10 games to 183 in the last 5.

Tamou has gone from averaging 144m in the first 10 to 174 in the last 5.

I’ve certainly noticed Fish hasn’t seemed as aggressive lately but Tamou seems to be building nicely. Hopefully its just managing the long season. We have also been running 6 middles in the last 5 as well.

Come on silver dale we know you love the panthers In the shadows of silver dale there is a voice yelling out up the panthers

lol

Not this weekend.

I almost took a shot at one when I saw it coming down onto emu plains, but let it go when I saw it was making its way to the pound to feed on some of the dog catchers.

Very much agree about Tamou, he’s really showing his value! He is most definitely our forward leader, I notice a change in our line speed when he goes off but his input during his minutes is proving to be a big reason we are going so well during the first 20-30.

The enforced rests for Api & Kikau are probably not such a bad thing.

Mitch Kenny I thought played really well when he last deputised for Api and I would expect him to go just as well on Saturday night.

While the Wests Tigers look shot this is probably the one game they will probably lift for in there run home so I am expecting a tough contest which again is not a bad thing.

Looking forward to it and after being stuck sitting up against the fence at the Howell Oval end last week it is nice we have been secured seats up in the Western Stand for this game.

From our run in, this the one game I don’t want to see us dropping two valuable points.

PANTHERS LATE MAIL: The Panthers have Moses Leota (hamstring) in doubt and he will need to pass a fitness test at the captain’s run to play. If leota is ruled out James Fisher-Harris would move back to prop, Isaah Yeo would revert to lock and either Billy Burns or Tyrone May start on the left edge. This would see Pat Hollis, who has been out with a groin injury but has been back in full training for a number of weeks, come onto the bench for his NRL debut. Kurt Capewell, names in the reserves, is close to returning from knee injury and needs to get some match fitness into him before the finals but I expect him to be given another week to build fitness levels and to return next week.

That late mail makes no sense. If May starts 2nd row then Burton will be on the bench incase a back goes down

According to my mail if Leota is ruled out Tetevano will start in his place and the club are considering bring Hollis onto the bench.

The bench will be May, Burns, Lenui & Hollis.

It would be a fairytale come true for Pat Hollis although far from guaranteed given Moses is still a chance.

Another great story if it does come to fruition for him to make his debut at 28 years of age after coming thru our junior ranks before being a bit of a journeyman around the Ron Massey Cup and the likes for many years while earning a living as a concretor or something similar.

That bench makes more sense. I don't see Capewell being risked. Still need the utility on the bench

The highest Panther on that list is Dylan Edwards who has played 7 games, in 21st place.

This will give you some idea what a critical stat it is in terms of leading to successful on-field outcomes..

Nofo is also the equal second highest try scorer in the nrl. Spose thats not a stat worth contemplating either.

Nofo is feeling about as sorry about lining up against the young swollen ankle as much as Wayne Bennett felt sorry for Seibs yesterday.
