It would be exactly like greeter western Sydney ?? giants who also play in Canberra

oh wait it’s fine when afl do it
It’s ducking stupid is what it is. The Thunder do it too. Crazy thing is, ACT’s cricket pathways lead to the Sixers and not the Thunder, so which moron rubber stamped that?

Homebush is the centre of Sydney yeah? They draw from all sides. Norffs are dead. Perth should have its own team.
This might shock you but south’s are a team from the south of Sydney

the fact they moved out of that area because their survival was at stake shows clubs do things to make it work

and as a fan of a fellow club that got shafted like norths did you would think you might have a smidgen of understanding for their cause

guess not

Norths didn’t get shafted. They were stupid. They f**ked up their move to Gosford (with the added short sightedness of the NRL). Yet Manly were smart. Got the licence if merger failed. They’re nothing more than a feeder club now. Like Newtown. Yet Newtown make that work and have found their niche.

What ?

They were promised a spot if they moved to Gosford

then rain delays to the build of the new stadium had them ranked as a Sydney team

If Manly keep on going the way they are then give their licence to North Sydney, but only if they base themselves out of SFS.
Should have happened 22 years ago.

How much better would the comp had been if some wombat at North's who had the power at the time of the merger didn't agree to give the licence back to Manly if the Northern Eagles fold.

Bears instead of Manly should have returned in 2003.

75% WA ownership 25% NS ownership

11 games in perth one at NS Oval

put $15mill on the table

rebrand to this and I’m in.

The West Coast name would that have any affect with the AFL team being called that.

It's certainly more exotic the just calling them perth as it's a representing the whole West Coast.

I would love the bears to come back in some capacity.

My dad played reserve grade for them so they have a soft spot for me.

If it’s backed by Norths it won’t last in Perth.
Norths juniors won’t want to go there (it’s a lot further than Melbourne).

If Perth wants to be successful it would need to be a locally run bid.
I disagree, Norths have been through that whole scenario with Manly with the Northern Eagles fiasco they wouldn’t do that to anybody else and I am sure that both parties involved as well as the NRL would have provisos in place to stop this from happening.

I’d rather WA but west coast works better than perth as well. No problem with eagles, we also have west coast fever netball club.

Haha, that’s the sort of naivety that screwed the bears. Bears will want to be back in nsw asap. They have no interest or commitment to WA, it’s just their ticket back to the big time. Nrl need nine games, if bears said they are moving back at end of a season you really think nrl will take their license back and not be able to fulfil the contract? I’ll give it 3-5 years befor the Sydney media white anting begins and the bears move more games to nsw before an eventual 8-4 split ns and gosford. Say no to the fifo Bears!

It makes sense to have North Sydney, Sydney and South Sydney representing the north, east and south. Manly don't do a good job of representing the north. South Sydney could take over Southern Sydney if Dragons and Sharks fall over or relocate.

What should have happened was a permanent merge of the two regions, with the only effect a merger breakdown of the top flight NRL team being that the new controlling body may have tweaked the name or branding of the NRL team, with everything underneath, eg combined junior comps, remaining the same. Or if only one team was going to continue in the NRL, the other team should had its territory split up and given to other teams, as was done to Newtown.

What has been allowed to happen to the area post Northern Eagles is such a joke.

Roosters will eventually take it over, its inevitable and makes sense.

Not if this WA Bears proposal gets up. And not while the Bears have a sniff of being readmitted, they’ll keep stymying any attempts of other teams to officially adopt the area. They need to be told a plain yes or no, and if the answer is no, get on with giving the area to another team. The Roosters, or any other team, having the area officially allocated to them would be a huge improvement on the status quo.

A cautionary tale about private equity funding (which Union seems to have adopted almost worldwide it seems).

The English Premiership Rugby Teams are currently about 500M pounds in debt (combined) and after taking the "free cash" of selling a 27% in their game to a private equity firm, they now get 27% less revenue from things like gate takings, TV rights, merchandise etc.

I think we should encourage our "cousins" in the other code to continue to pursue this route.

Dont forget Christchurch Bears or Adelaide Bears too. Either way you swing it they are most likely coming in... you guys can keep on sourcing out the Blacktown workers for juniors or try to atleast get into the gosford market... the fact you cry about lack of ownous on NRL to diviy up NS, but you can do shit yourselves and you've even got an NRL licence... blows my mind
