WA BEARS

I'm not presuming anything, for twenty years now the club has stated time and time again that they'll never enter such an arrangement again.

When other similar deals have come up in the past, such as the GC and Brisbane for example, they've always approached it the same way; the brand is not for sale and they won't accept any changes to the brand, they must have say in the running of the club, and an ironclad ownership agreement.
Desperate times call for desperate measures. Hopefully they are finally realising the bears brand is never re entering the nrl in nsw. Im Sure they’ve learnt their lesson and any potential deal would protect their brand and role in the partnership as much as protect the intent that this is first and foremost a WA representative club.

But that doesn’t mean it has to be a dominant role. Don’t get me wrong you may well be right and their terms may not be acceptable to a WA bid consortium but unless a discussion is had they’ll never know will they.

That's not what will be on offer. The deal will come with significantly more baggage than that.
again youre making presumptions. That may prove right but until conversations are had we won’t know,

1-2 games in Sydney, guarantee around brand protection, a seat on the board and 20% ownership share, direct pathway link.
that is the offer I would make if I was a WA consortium. If that’s not good enough for the bears, as I said back to being roosters feeder club.

Sure the club realises that, doesn't change what I said before.

They don't care about being a team that represents WA...

If the Bears form a joint venture in Perth the Bears interests will come first.

I've seen how this discussion goes multiple times...

Perth will only be interested if the the Bears are basically silent partners. The Bears will agree to a deal if they have an equal, or better, say.

FFS, I'm not making presumptions.

The Bears bare minimum demands won't have changed, as the video from Daniel Dickson suggests BTW.

They'll never agree to the above.

They'll want at least equal representation on the board and 50% of the ownership, including over the license, their idea of a guarantee of brand protection will more or less be veto power over any potential changes to it, and though they may agree to 1- 2 games in Sydney initially they wont want that number set in stone.

then if terms cant be agreed there will be no deal and we’ll hope perth can put a good bid together with the wa govt support. But if it can work to both parties agreement it presents a very compelling bid, probably a walk in given how sydney centric Vlandys is.

Next year there is nothing stopping nine having a brisbane team on every Thursday or Friday night
When Foxtel added $100m over 5 years to fund the Dolphins they stipulated that fewer Broncos games are to be broadcast on Ch9. So we'll get about as many games on Ch9 with Queensland teams as we do now, but Broncos will play in less of them. That's a huge loss for Ch9 and the reason they're not paying extra.

Brisbane isn’t getting club 18 lol. Every comment in last 12 months has been about new markets.
It'll all come down to which bid is preferred by the broadcasters and who is the most fiscally viable.

NRL isn't going to throw extra funds at the 18th team.

Perth could be frontrunners if they saddle up with North Sydney, but I'm not convinced the two parties will get past the negotiating stage. I cannot see the Perth consortium wanting to invest in a Sydney team. Nor can I see North Sydney giving up their hope of returning as North Sydney. Without funding from Cummins or Sage it won't get anywhere. I cannot see either of them wanting to invest in a club that holds matches at NSO.
Yeh no way they aren’t giving the dolphins at least five year to get

i actually said Perth should be team number 20. Whether that’s the pirates or reds that’s up to them

I thought mz2 were nailed on for team 18

now that’s flipped around. By adding the bears they come in now rather than much later

I’ve never said Perth shouldnt get a team I just ranked other teams ahead of them
Ideally the Dolphins would be given 10 or 15 years to build a fan base before adding another Brisbane team. I think the NRL will wait a few years to see how the Dolphins go before deciding on another team. If there isn't enough depth to cover 17 teams with quality players then they're not going to add an 18th.

Bulldogs need to get their shit together. If I was the WA government I would be liaising with them instead of North Sydney. Canterbury don't have an NRL standard stadium and are a rabble on and off the field. They just lost Naden to the Tigers and look set to lose a few more because of the Barrett drama.

BTW, this was sent to fans yesterday-

Gives a pretty good idea of where the club's thinking is at.
Thank you for posting that. It proves that Rothfield was full of shit and all the turkeys talking this up as if it's a fait accompli have been reeled in hook, line and sinker by News Ltd.

The Bears are still delusional enough to think they'll get in as North Sydney playing out of NSO. They've got just 1,500 financial members. That's f**k all and proves their fanbase is even smaller than I thought. I estimated it was 2k or 3k, but it turns out to be half of that. I doubt those 1,500 members would stick around to support the Western Australia Bears.

Branding would be an interesting challenge. Toomuchsoup kind of nailed it but I'd flip them around so that this is the WC Bears home jersey, must have WA yellow/gold on it and is a strong nod to the Reds reinforcing this is a WA club first and foremost. Then a Red and Black with a bit of gold more traditional Bears jersey as an alternate. Also as hot as Perth is having a white jersey will be more comfortable! View attachment 61762
Toomuchsoup didn't nail it, just copied the reds and bears jerseys, although i like them, but i only liked them because ive seen them before, and just adjusting the same old design, isn't creating a new brand, need to blend both WA and bears colors and history in designs... i also recolored soups design

Still needs more gold, might even go so far as to change the remaining white to gold

Yes we will have to pay tv to show a perth team.
No he didn't. You obviously didn't listen to the interview lol.

Dickson didn't even come close intimating that the Bears would be happy with a single game a year, let alone outright say that they were happy with it.

Frankly, PR was just hearing what he wanted to hear.

Which scenarios would those be lol.
Yeh I didn’t listen I was basing it on what Perth bear wrote

That chairman video doesn’t give much hope does it lol. Oh well fun while it lasted, back to being Roosters feeder club for the bears

It’s impossible to rank anyone as there has been no call for bids and conflicting messages from nrl on where they want the next club.

Well they will have Team 18 sometime in the next Broadcast deal as the bye is stupid.

You can list a pro and con to all potential areas. The biggest Con I had on Perth was the remote making junior development hard. Partnering with the Bears changes that.

Unless NZ 2 has some huge game changer then Perth would be front runner.

PNG would be nice but you can't have multi millionaire players going to live in a 3rd world country

Without it there’s no rugby league in wa. if we had to rely on the pittance from the nrl WA would be like Adelaide!
