That would require faith that A) the NRL would do it properly B) down the track a club can be sold for more than the NRL invests in it. Not sure I have either!
Why wouldn't the NRL do it properly compared to a consortium of private owners who would still need to run things through the NRL for approval?

$$$'s willing to invest v ROI they think they will get back. Its not a bad model as long as the long term commitment to it is there.
Having had a WA club owned by the game and subsequently closed down you'll have to forgive any skepticism from the West!

If the club has been set up it takes the risk out of it for investors

Esp if funding keeps going up as it will with the next tv deal

The la lakers were were sold for 67.5 million in the early 80s and are now worth 6 billion

Owning clubs in dominant leagues with good funding models is a great way to make money

Nrl isn’t a league and those clubs are paying 20 million license fees

Wonder who knows what’s actually happening with this bid
I'm not sure anyone outside of a very select few in NRLHQ and WA Govt really know at this point.

This is the same media that a few weeks ago where telling us the Western Bears were a shoe in for team 18 so I've given up holding too much stead in what they are printing unless there are direct quotes from someone in the know in the article.

Hope we find out soon!
The recent articles haven’t helped

Pvl needs to tone things down he’s overdoing that the bids failed

He’s looking anti expansionary when he’s the opposite

The negotiations are good they are strengthening the bid so a month delay isn’t the worst thing in the world

Apparently around 120 million in new money is now going into this bid. If that’s true it’s a win

voices in your head again or a credible source?
I tested him a few times and stuff he said on here came out in the media a week later so

I was initially sceptical too

Things are still being negotiated so who knows how it lands

This is old news now it’s almost a few weeks old

It wouldn’t be an extra $120m on top of what is already looked at being commitment for infrastructure and set up as previously reported on.

It’s not even half that amount and it’ll be cash that’s already been put forward to an NRL club simply being diverted from one element to another.

Furthermore $12m a year isn’t much.
