Correct.

In which case it isn't NRL funding
They could give the Perth nrl club management rights so they would collect rent from the glory and force plus keep all the match day revenues

That would really help the rugby league team out

Afl contributed ten million to a 145 million build and with that they got the management rights to the stadium lmao

Once again ..this argument originated from Perth Red saying that the $300m the WA Govt has proposed spending to upgrade HBF should be considered money that is being spent on the new Perth NRL team ..

Black and white …the end

Everything else you read has come about from those disagreeing with that statement
While the stadium upgrade will obviously also benefit other sports, it is intrinsically linked to getting an NRL team. It's just semantics to say it's not govt funding support if it's not only for the NRL team especially for a stadium. No govt builds a stadium for only 1 sport to use.

In addition to the other sports it will benefit .,.it is also upgrading a Govt owned asset and can be used for other events that will benefit the Perth Community …it’s not a handout of $300m to the NRL team that will also use it

It may not be an NRL stadium or even primarily an NRL stadium, but if Its funding is conditional on an NRL team, and if its a condition of the NRL license being granted? How else would you put it.

Well that assumes the venue was never going to be upgraded.

It had upgrades last year to host the Women's Soccer.

Those upgrades also made it possible to host Basketball. NBL round 1 was there. Can now host Internationals

Now if you are chasing after more major events like this than upgrades to the corporate areas is a likely next step.

So while the timing to match the Bears works, If the Bears don't come it will still get upgraded in the near future

Agree it is not a direct handout. If PR is arguing that then IMO he is wrong. But for people to argue that if any money spent by the WA govt will also benefit other sports then it can not be considered as part of their commitment to attracting an NRL team is silly.

lol your delusional. Unless there is a justification hbf park isnt getting any further upgrades. Hence why this funding commitment is solely tied to the granting of an nrl license, ie to benefit the nrl club.

I’ve never argued anything like that, what I’m am saying, and is very clear to anyone with an ounce of common sense, is the $300mill+ of govt investment to upgrade hbf park is for the benefit and purpose of the nrl club and makes up a part of the funding the govt is willing to spend to make a nrl club happen. Including building a rugby league a centre and funding a shs program.
No nrl club none of those things happen.

whats hilarious is the hissy fit people on here have when govt’s build stadiums that afl uses who are now saying this stadium build isn’t for nrl lol

What they should do then is close all the new stands for any other event that’s not rugby league

Agree, the stadium upgrade should be seen as part of the governments overall funding package as support for the NRL team that will have spin-offs for other sports and the wider community.
