Doesnt surprise me, Vlandys has proven to be a sht negotiator and seemingly a not very nice person, respect isnt his forte.

Shame, walking away from a $30mill start up investment and putting at risk $400mill+ of Govt funding for the game in an AFL state for any of the reasons Wb has speculated would be a pretty pss weak thing to do.

Let’s see what the final result is hey ….then you can cry all you want about the WA Govt if they “walk away”… it appears the WA Govt has zero loyalty to the Cumins bid …and they are more than happy to negotiate directly with the NRL

Couldn’t believe the bears agreed to no board seats, equity and just relying upon contracts with the bid team to protect their position

Crazy

This might still be the final result …. even without the Cummins bid being part of the equation

5. Potentially (and this is a guess) trying to revive the reds brand in some way into the bid and this is just guess work by having their logo on the jersey or the Perth pathways sides named reds ?
I wouldn't have been surprised at all if those last two were quietly lined up. Even having the word "Western" in the name, yellow in the colours, and SMH using this image with their articles led to too many assumptions that it was another merger of two clubs.

No its not the WA state governments preference and I wouldn't say they are happy .... but they also want a team.

The WA Government just want a team. They had discussions with Cronulla a few years back.

People have a go at the so-called “anywhere Bears” but they have shown to be of the same thinking. The WA/Western/Perth whatevers.

Fair enough … just making a point that there is no connection between the WA Govt money and the Cumins bid … the likely outcome at this stage is that they will still have a team out of Perth as one of these three expansion areas within the next 5 years

Way too trusting of Cummins

Didn’t learn from what manly did

Cummins provided an update at the WA Past Players Association on Saturday.

Ceo, Head Coach, Head of Football, Ken Allen Redevelopment, Player Accommodation, SG Ball & Harold Matthews for 2026 were all ready to go for an announcement post GF.

At this stage he has no ongoing communication from with the NRL and the NRL are only dealing with the state government as reported.

The bid team was in the room at the GF function and V'landy didn't even have the curtesy to give the team a heads up about issues with the bid before announcing it publicly.

All the leaks have be pushed to put Cummins in a bad light, everyone forgets the millions he has poured into WA Rugby League over the last 30 years.
Whilst I'm not surprised by Vlandys poor communication and generally sht way he goes about the games business (I mean leaking the news in the media before talkign to the bids? who does that?), what is clear since is that the bids were expected to put up $20mill license fee.
The fact two of the NZ bids have stated they put that amount in their bids (presuming they are being truthful) would suggest that the NRL had given them that direction. Cant defend the consortium if they knew before hand and tried their arm by putting zero. No reason for the NRL to stone wall them, that's just dumb imo not taking the chance to have a WA club owned by WA people, but was a seemingly stupid play by the consortium.

He said the dolphins would be a disaster and going to Brisbane was the wrong move entirely for nrl expansion
Hilariously, you typed a few posts back in this very thread that you believe another NSW team (Central Coast) should have come in over QLD3 (Gold Coast).

So not only are you a liar, but a hypocritical liar.

That may well be true, but the fact that the NRL have shit-canned every private bid so far (not just Perth) suggests they are pretty shit at this.

It is almost like they have been burned by private investment in the past and have learn't from the mistake

Thats even more worrying though isn't it.

The game is supposedly in rude health, and yet we cant drum up one credible private investor to bid on an expansion team.

For mine, they way the NRL have played this all out in public is slight on our game.

So wheres the $50mill start up coming from if not from private investment? And why get people to waste money and time if they didnt want a private investment model when they knew 7 of the 9 bids were based on that model?

This would be why they want govts to fund grass roots investments.

Because how do you know x offical body isn't involved until you get the document?
