any issue from west aussie patrons in here that now that nrl are controllers of a west Aussie nrl team that the bears will have significantly more say in their brand etc? I doubt they’ll have a say in how the club is operated though etc.

a few articles today saying nrl ceo's said they want perth first for 2027 tv rights. this apparently came from their ceo meeting held today.

Pure supposition but I’d suggest in principle funding agreement is in place but a) wa govt want cast iron guarantees over wa running of club and long term guaranteed license b) a premier can’t just sign off on $500mill plus of funding. It has various govt processes it needs to go through including cabinet sign off and treasury agreement. Remember this money is not currently allocated in 24-25 budget so need to be additional to signed off budget for this financial year at least.
in the words of my source end of nov. “ the club will be wa based, wa run and wa member owned. It was a non-negotiable from day one with the premier”.

I believe in a Perth team. I don't believe in the parasites being forced upon them so they can try to steal the team and relocate it to North Sydney.

If it were the Jets being forced upon them, I'd feel the same, they just wouldn't be parasites like the Bears.
