Doom and gloom …ok …

I mean ..there has to be some reason for the delays right in the agreement being finalised ? They met in person two weeks ago and still can’t sort it out … perhaps it’s just part of the poker game ..and the fact that they still have 6 months to sort this out if they need it ..
Governments are involved, public servants, say no more.

End of next week right ?
It'll be announced when it’s announced.

People losing their collective shit over it. It’s all good. There’s work on items happening in the background ready to be rolled out once it is announced. NRL are in control after all.

This wouldn’t be the first time something is agreed to in principle but takes time to go through the process of finalisation. Pretty common.

It’s all positive.

Put it this way. PNG’s in principle agreement supposedly happened months ago (August/September) and they’re only just ready to be announced (December). This was after almost 2 years of ongoing formal negotiations.

“Technically” the ARLC didn’t start “formal” negotiations with WA Government until mid October. When you put a wide lens on it, it has actually progressed quite quickly. What’s throwing people off is perhaps they’re taking into account the time frame of the WA Consortium’s start up to their subsequent rejection as part of this “drawn” out process length.

When it’s really only been about 6-7 weeks that have been properly factored in to time between ARLC and WA Government negotiations.

no one is losing their shit … Im the one actually saying there is no hurry and they could still make the announcement 6 months down the track and post the election if they had too and still join in 2027..

Im just a little dubious about all the calls from people here that all the major details ( ie money ) have been agreed already ..

I wasn’t alluding to only here with that comment. People are losing their collective shit online on various platforms over impending PNG announcement. Bears, Western Australian fans and PNG-detractors alike.

Fact is no one knows what the announcement will look like. Right now looks like they’ll be announced with a time frame of entry but not a next team # entry. But who knows, everything in this process has been stupidly fluid - for all bids.

The rest of your comment, well it’s up to the reader what they choose to believe.

Does one of the bids really need to enter in 2027 ? Why can't they both start in 2028 ?

So announced the one that is ready now and the other one later.
Or announce both later next year or whenever.

it’s possible they could come in together … and there has been instances in the past of multiple teams joining at the same time …. however Its preferable to spread them out so the player market doesn’t get absolutely crazy and they end up bidding against each other for limited available players …

I would have thought that six months ago … but it seems PVL’s main motivation is getting the Bears back rather than expanding to WA …he certainly hasn’t made it easy for WA to come in

Nor should he. I would be demanding a brand new rectangular stadium with a roof too if I were him. No ifs or Buts. Otherwise Christchurch here we come baby!

The days where RL is begging with cap in hand are/should be well and truly over. Look at the AFL ffs, they demand and get whatever they want. Tassie is a perfect example. Brisbane will soon to be too. They are relentless and Govs just cave in eventually. We should be no different.

Period!

Vlad won’t walk away from $400mill plus of govt money for the game in an afl state
cook won’t walk away from being the premier who brought the last remaining prof sport to WA
its just going to take time to get final agreements and work through the approval mechanisms of budget.
could have been sorted two months ago but hey ho. Nrl can’t be feeling that urgent about it.

You know … you have a number of annoying habits … and one of them is just immeadiately rejecting any news that doesn’t agree with your preferences of how you want things to work out …and then just refusing to consider that there is any possibility it could have happened.., have you actually read the story yet? I haven’t seen it posted here and it’s only in the SMH today … so you would have had to have read it in the last 12 hours or so…besides … even if the rest of the story is “rehashed “ ( it isn’t by the way), that is no reason to say it is false..

Now this bit of news about PVL may or may not be true … but I’m going to bet my left nut that you weren’t at the meeting , nor have you seen a full transcript of what was or wasn’t discussed…so you can’t say that it definitely didn’t happen

All either of us really know for sure is that no agreement had been reached despite meeting in person two weeks ago
I know the $120mill request for grassroots funding is old news and both parties have moved on from it. Don’t really give a sht if you believe me or not, I trust the source that informed me and the bits of news since then has backed up that source.

Wa govt will not fund grassroots $12 mill a year for a decade. But they have upped the original offer with some extra grass roots funding in the target areas of schools and DO’s they had already offered, will cover the $10mill or so cost of temp accomodation and in offering free stadium rental.

But as I keep tell it you according to my source “there is still a lot of hurdles to jump yet”
