If one of your criteria for investment, is the introduction of a colour or a change to logo, then maybe your not taking this very seriously.

I think they'll need to do those things if they want buy in from people in Perth.
I’ll respond to your post because you at least come across logical.

Cumins consortium was booted because 1) he has no idea what he was doing commercially from a sports organisation sense. 2) failed to understand the bid requirements. 3) brought on a crook as an investor. 4) got given terrible advice by freshwater strategy which he never questioned. 5) wasn’t communicating with the people he was trying to get in business with.

A calamity of errors really. Great sponsorship man, terrible sports club operator (from the tiny sample size given)

Brand itself, yeah it was diabolical at best but that’s stuff that can be sorted with the right people involved and whilst that might have been a reason for Jim’s leaving (heard it was actually the lack of business know-how) it it isn’t the crux of why ARLC said no thanks.

Yeh fancy wanting to make the club feel like a West Aussie club, what a dumb thing to do for a club thats supposed to appeal to WA people lol.
Cummins was told pay 20 million lic fee he paid zero

Cummins was told bears are the brand he tried to bring back reds

No wonder why Pvl axed him

Doesn't look like it. I don't think VLandys has ever mentioned the league fans in Perth. They'll lose me completely if it's the old norths brand.
Well board members come and go. What’s your definition of old board? Blokes from the 90s no longer involved with the game? Blokes from a decade ago who aren’t board members now? Blokes at the current helm who won’t be considered?

But rest assured none of them will be there. Well that’s a lie, one potentially will but he is an NRL/ARLC man first and foremost and was only thrust onto Norths for other reasons. Need not worry with him he was very much behind the game going from broke, living pay cheque to paycheque to having solid coffers. He also understands the interstate conundrum and what’s required. Not guaranteed, but good chance.

He’s the dope that said delay was bc Cronulla was being relocated to W.A. instead of bears

And said he would never support bears branding as he’s a tigers fan

He’s as bad as Perth red

He's a celebrity investor who just wants the Bears back and is behind their relocation. Serving up a Western Reds in Bears clothing doesn't tick the box.

I got no problem with cumins bid getting the boot. I don't know if they had an idea on what they were doing or what was in the bid.
My post has nothing to do with that bid, not sure why people keep on bringing it up TBH, it got the boot last Oct.
My point is that there is zero mention of perth league fans from the NRL at all. There seems to be no consideration for the people who will make it break the club.

Apologies mate, brand is brand. Updated is great but what makes a brand is the people behind it and that support it. There’s a delicate balance there. I don’t expect to see the wombat looking bear brand slapped on it but I also don’t expect to see something radically different either.

There’s a nice medium ground somewhere that will appease majority of people I’m sure.

Yeah I agree with you there. More should be made on WA and the exciting prospect of bringing the state back into the fold. There’s a dual feel-good story with both elements here, it should be leaned on both.

Only thing is that 90% of the journalists working on this are based where they are based. Their employer knows one element brings more traffic to a particular headline than the other and as such, it gets reported that way.

One more thing. Bears element will only be a thing/headline for a short period in the grand scheme of things. It’ll be Perth/WA and location that’ll carry the weight for decades to come. Eventually Bears name and brand will be automatically correlated to Perth/WA. That’s what will stand up in the long run and ultimately what will matter, I think.

Not really talking about journos. I'm taking about the boss. It's all about norths fans, reassuring them that they are at the forefront of their plans. Perth league fans? Nothing at all from him about them. He'll need to change his tune because people know when they are getting dudded and the club will need all the fans over here to get on board. He's a bit on the nose here atm.

I think he has been pretty 50/50 with it all. I dare say the reason he mentions Bears as much as he does is really only because he gets asked about it.

How the journos interpret and therefore report his answers and reactions, well that’s more what I’m alluding to. Other day the same article was posted 6 times. ABC, MSN, ESPN and a few others. 2 times mentioned Bears heavily, 4 times it was WA heavily with little reference to Bears. It was the same quotes. Is what it is.

I'm yet to see him mention Perth fans. Anyway, we'll see what sort of club he builds.
