Cummins was told pay 20 million lic fee he paid zero

Cummins was told bears are the brand he tried to bring back reds

No wonder why Pvl axed him
The consortium tried to make a case why they shouldn't pay a license fee, when it was rejected they came back with it. Its called negotiation, you know the thing you've been championing Vlandys for doing with the WA govt lol

The consortium wanted to make sure this looks, walks and smells like a WA club first and foremost, not NS playing in Perth. From a perth perspective that is exactly what we want as WA fans.

Id suggest PVL never had any real intention of a privately owned WA club once he got a good look at what he thought the WA govt $'s on offer where.

He's a celebrity investor who just wants the Bears back and is behind their relocation. Serving up a Western Reds in Bears clothing doesn't tick the box.
lol they wanted to add a dash of yellow and change the outdated Bears head. He wanted things to stay NS, it cant be.

As a Bears fan and from how I have heard they were treated during the logo negotiations by the Cumins bid consortium, I honestly don’t blame Jim Jeffries walking away, I can only imagine what the rest of the talks would’ve been like.
While I don’t expect a replica of the current Bears logo, I expect something similar or atleast something that looks modern, something that looks good, if there is yellow in it, I honestly don’t care, as long as red and black are the main colours, I hate how most away teams are white, it’s boring, Penrith are pink.

I'm yet to see him mention Perth fans. Anyway, we'll see what sort of club he builds.
Correct. He talks about NS and he talks about WA govt. You never here him talk about RL in the West or the fans here. At least Abdo managed to mention us recently, even if he did get the number of players in the 90's totally wrong lol

Bears signed away everything to Cummins and we’re going to get shafted big time

Pvl saw where it was going and saved the bears from themselves

Bears were stupid for trusting Cummins and giving him so much leeway esp after manly did the same

They were too desperate to return

And thats his prerogative, whatever his motivations.
Just as its ours in the West to bemoan the loss of opportunity of a locally owned club by people 100% committed to Rugby league in West Australia.

So Pvl turned down 20 million from Cummins which goes to existing clubs so the Perth team could have well funded juniors and assistance

The original bid had Sydney owners

Now it is owned by the game so nobody can mess around with it

I don’t mind the moaning it’s hilarious

Getting shafted? lol they were getting 4 FT staff paid for to improve NS and one home game a season, as well as saving them from total irrelevance in a few years when reserve grade returns. For a dash of yellow and a differnet Bear head on a logo Id say it was a fair trade.

It wasn’t just a dash of yellow

It somehow involved the return of the “reds” brand

It’s not a joint venture in any way

It’s a Perth nrl club under the branding of the north Sydney bears

85% WA owned

yeh cause last time a Perth club was owned by the governing body it worked out real well for us!
perth owned their own club and put in dumb bid items like travel and believing sponsors would honour their word with costs. rugby league digest podcast covers this in absolute incremental detail.

you were always wrong about this, reds screwed reds. your coffee dates with geriatrics was little more than talking made up history and nonsense.

perthwrongs, ding dong

Jeeze it’s hard to be a fan of rugby league in Perth with some of the Perth fans on here

If it wasn’t for the bears link up I would have zero interest in the team based on how they have acted on here

Nah that’s bs too

From the start W.A. were told the bid was a bears branding

Non negotiable

Then getting investors one of whom had been sacked by the nrl …

Comedy gold

You need to move on and accept reality
It was 85% WA owned bid, the only non WA investors was the Sydney group who would have had 15% ownership.

If the club has to be a NS Bears branding it will fail. The consortium knew this, it has to represent WA and feel like a WA club to be adopted by WA.

I have moved on from a missed opportunity to have a proper WA club, and now wait with bated breath to see what the NRL does with it. That will determine if I bother or not with the club, if it ever happens.
