Sounds like Arthurs has already got the job and would be here next year to build the squad if green light given.
Or Jason Taylor? He seems to have done a good job at NSW cup level for a number of years. Might be too much NS for the WA owners though?
Where did you hear about Arthur

he would be good

Taylor is assistant somewhere but wouldn’t want him as head coach imo

He was interviewed by the Perth consortium recently, his wife is from here. He took the Leeds job for this year only suggesting he is waiting on a Perth decision. One of the NRLs bid criteria is head coach appointment, Id be surprised if he isnt provisionally in the seat already and identified in the bid application.

Taylor was assistant at Roosters and head coach at NS since 2018 then moved to Bulldogs this year.

He’s a gun imo

parra are a basket case with a weak board and mark O’Neill who decides on player retention is useless

he still got them close too with a fairly average side on paper

nothing is guaranteed but that’s a good appointment

We have to be realistic of what our goals are for first 5 years. No one expects top 4's but competitive, get the systems in place, build a squad capable of mid table and maybe the odd top 8 finish is the goal Id suggest. Arthurs can do all of that and he is respected by players so that would help with recruitment. He's also in SL at moment scouting talent hopefully!

Of course if we could land Bellyache then that would be something else but Brad is a solid choice as inaugural coach.

Yeh true he will be able to good some good super league players too even from Leeds

Obviously if Leeds lost players to Perth you would be gutted

I’ve said this earlier ..but it’s typical NRL… drag the chain for years ..and now they have a mad panic to get it all done at the last minute ..

Should have gone with Perth for 2026… and then they need two years between each team …player market is going to go mental if you bring in three teams in two years

With expansion timeline, I'd go:

Perth- 2027
PNG- 2030
NZ 2- 2033

Next tv deal is from 2028-2032??. So 2033 is possibly the beginning of a new tv cycle.

But I do agree. NRL does nothing for 15 years, and now they are rushing teams in. So frustrating.

Arthur had also spent most of his footy life in Western Sydney. He has a lot of contacts and experience in that huge nursery. He'd be ideal . Taylor is a very good assistant coach, I wouldn't be going for him in the top role.

Perth won’t get games later than 6.00pm local, even in March. East Coast tv ratings will still be in charge.

Edit: also, DLS still in play in NSW, probably even earlier requirement.
It'll be interesting to see if they use WA home games at start of season when DLS is still in play to test out a late Sat night game? 6pm perth 9pm AEST or even 6.30pm/9.30pm. Would be a PTV game.

Yeah, i can see that for a Saturday with a 4 game package. It’s worth a trial, especially if they incorporated Auckland on the front end for the later “Summer” start times.

1995 wasn’t a mistake

if murodch had left alone it would’ve been fine

It seemed cool to bring in four teams and make it a 20 team comp, but there were too many lopsided games.

With regards to Murdoch, if he wasn't involved with Super League, there most likely would've been a rationalisation of Sydney clubs anyway, but without the need of that farcical criteria.
