So who is putting in the $30m that Cummins said they needed?

Again coming back to the most recent case of someone buying into a team. Mike Cannon-Brookes got a seat at Souths for $10m.
There may well be investors who are ns fans who have bought a share of the club and joining the 5 perth consortium members on the board.

Is it the Bears “side “ providing cash ? have not heard that
It’s unlikely. NSFC have no money. Ns leagues club isn’t flush and if they were they’d have part ownership which doesn’t sound the case. Like said it’s more likely one or more of these ‘east coast investors’ may have bought a share. Nsfc covering costs of the jnr system saves the western bears $500k a Year.

I heard on some podcast that an unnamed Bears “fan” was looking to put in some money ….

Seems like what we know to date is that the one game a year and the Bears name/ mascot is pretty much all the Bears are getting out of this deal … a long way from what was first being demanded … give them away status for Magic Round and they will pretty much be in the same boat as most Sydney teams each year now…

I have zero problem with at least 1 NRL game a season at NSO, even 2. Likewise I fully support North Sydney's history and brand being officially recognised as part of the Western Bears.

The advantage of doing this is that it makes the Western Bears (both as a brand and a club) much bigger than a mere Perth side with no ties to Norths beyond the logo/ colours. The Bears were/ are one of the least polarising, most likeable teams in league history and in a roundabout way their lack of Premiership success is an advantage because it makes it easier for both the people of W.A to accept the club as their own and building their own history, without alienating the Norths element.

In the AFL, the Fitzroy Lions had a similar standing amongst Melbourne football fans and had the Brisbane Lions been simply Fitzroy relocating, it would've been a less controversial move than the Fitzroy-Brisbane Bears merger that eventuated.

If Norths had managed to relocate to Gosford (as was the original plan) they were to become the Central Coast Bears and incorporate Norths colours and history. Just because they're moving across the country shouldn't change anything else. This club has the potential to be huge both in terms of it's success on the field and its' standing in the game...

Despite the fantastic news of the Western Bears off the field, the Bears NSW Cup team record their 3rd loss in a row, going down to the Newtown Jets today 18-8.
The Bears still lead the NSW Cup competition by one point from the Canberra Raiders.
Three competition games remain until the NSW Cup Finals’ Series.
