Isn’t this thread called WA Bears? As in Western Bears? Why so triggered Vlad?

Your memory ok mate? Are you still mistaking your fridge for the toilet and accidentally pissing inside the crisper drawer?

The Bears are off to the NSW Cup Grand Final defeating the Newtown Jets 18-16.
The Jets actually got over the line on full time but were held up, phew.
Now the Bears can sit back next weekend, rest their injuries and hope that the Canberra Raiders and Newtown belt each other.

Dolphins are in the Queensland Cup GF against North Brisbane...

So if the Bears win the NSW Cup, we'll either see Dolphins v Bears (the last & possibly the next NRL expansion teams' feeder clubs) or North Sydney v North Brisbane in the State Championship game.

Love the narrative that the club is a parasite just for working tirelessly on their readmission to a competition they never should have left
But conversely a club isn’t a parasite when they have drug cheated the sport, salary cap cheated the game, had a ceo bash women, had players piss in their own mouths, taken loans from other leagues clubs then tried to stick a knife in them and the rest.

I salute Sharkies for rebuilding themselves back up by winning a premiership for on field success and then building commercial strength and fantastic revenue and profit line from their assets.

But let’s not get it twisted, the club was a big ol’ tapeworm up rugby league’s rectum for decades.

Fantastic result and game.

Norths found some resolute after a tough month and a bit. Hopefully they get up in the GF but history isn’t kind in the big dances!

Random Digression:
Shame PNG Hunters lost their prelim final game. It would’ve otherwise been Dolphins vs. Hunters in Q Cup Final and Bears vs. (insert) in NSW Cup Final.

A massive endorsement for already included and would be expansion teams had Hunters made it. Still a great outcome for them to finish where they did. They looked average around mid season, big push from them in the last 3rd of regular season to make finals.

A’las it’s Redcliffe Dolphins vs. Norths Devils in Q-Cup GF (round of applause to the Dolphins systems and feeder clubs for playing eachother in the big dance).

Norths vs. likely Raiders but Jets aren’t out of it yet in NSW Cup GF.

Here’s hoping for Bears vs. Dolphins State Cup! Bet the ARLC would be patting themselves on the back quietly if that’s the game.

But Norths vs. Norths also has a bit of romance about it too.

Just a final note in relevance to Western Bears. Considering how many Bears-alone contracted players played in last years and now this years Cup GF - this small period of moderate success puts them in good stead heading into an NRL birth/rebirth. The fact that the Bears captain is the best Western Australian born player not currently playing NRL is somewhat poetic.

There was a bit of discussion concerning a Perth League Club before in the chat.

The club should look to partner with Varsity Sport Bars. Find and develop a site in Mt Lawley. Call it "Bear Varsity" - have a dedicated function room off the main bar for club functions.

There’s some strategic talks happening to acquire either a pre-existing venue or an empty lot then apply for DA & build a venue that would serve as another asset to add to the portfolio in Western Australia and be the Bears Club in WA.

There is no set time line though as heading into WA, owning and operating a venue is a bit different to NSW or QLD.

Also with various stakeholders being spread across the country it’s not as clear cut as how acquiring previous assets were either. There’s now IP and branding elements which need to be siphoned through diligently and respectfully.

I figured somewhere close to HBF Park would be ideal but I also don’t know the geography of Perth that well, so if you say that mentioned location is good then good enough for me. Locals know best here.

HBF park is walking distance to the Beaufort Street bar and restaurant strip.

Northbridge is bigger, busier night life area, but would be a stretch for most to walk, a very short Uber.

without pokies league clubs don't make money. And Perth is so spread out fans arent going to trek to a Bears LC outside of game day so its not going to be a big revenue generator. There's better RoI's the club could go after.

Its as close from north end of Northbridge to HBF as it is the pub area of Beaufort st. Both areas have a lot of competition for custom though.
