I got a tip today that club 18&19 will be announced on Thursday. We shall see.Interesting … I wonder if this could perhaps move the Bears back to 19th ?
Anyone got the full story ?
I wonder why they are behind PNG ? The cynic in me thinks they lack the $600m from the Govt but might be other reasons?
Perth bears will be team 18I got a tip today that club 18&19 will be announced on Thursday. We shall see.

That’s what I was thinking tooInteresting then what the issue is that Sloth is referring to above about the Western bid … it’s only a couple of paragraphs in the column .. mentions something about concerns re “financially viable”…
Maybe trying to squeeze some more money out of the State Govt
Squeezing the last drops of some Pdiddy Lube $$$Maybe trying to squeeze some more money out of the State Govt
It’s sloth, I wouldn’t believe him if he told me grass is green!Interesting then what the issue is that Sloth is referring to above about the Western bid … it’s only a couple of paragraphs in the column .. mentions something about concerns re “financially viable”…

No they won’t. Good chance Western Bears will be though!Perth bears will be team 18
So damn excited - not just for you & the Perth-based fans, but the Norths faithful as well AND the game as a whole.I got a tip today that club 18&19 will be announced on Thursday. We shall see.
I think it's likely that Western Bears gets announced as Team 18 for 2027 kickoff, PNG announced as Team 19 for 2028/29 kickoff, and a Team 20 will be looked at and assesed closer to the time, but will likely kickoff in 2031/2032.So damn excited - not just for you & the Perth-based fans, but the Norths faithful as well AND the game as a whole.
If team 20 is a case of TBC for another time, so be it. Let's get excited about 18 & 19.
Now Vlandys has publicly opened the door and criticised the bids the western bears and wa govt need to tell us what’s in the bid and let us judge for ourselves if what they are offering is ‘enough’.View attachment 95112
“Been Taken For Granted” Peter V’landys Has Major Expansion Update
Australian Rugby League Commission Chairman Peter V’landys AM and NRL Ceo Andrew Abdo joined Sunday Sin Bin on Triple M ahead of the NRL Grand Final between Melbourne Storm and Penrith Panthers.
The pair celebrate a historic season of NRL where the game went to Las Vegas, attendances are its highest and television ratings growing more than ever.
But both provided a key update into expansion as bids are in doubt to expand the game.
“The financial aspect of the bids haven’t been sufficient,” said V’landys.
“They need to invest more, they haven’t invested enough.
“I think they’ve taken it for granted that they’d get a license.”
It’s sloth, I wouldn’t believe him if he told me grass is green!
It’s embarrassing that he’s leaking this sht through news ltd. got to keep his paymasters happy I suppose.Looks like Sloth was correct … he has become PVLs chief leaker these days ….
Disappointing if Perth gets delayed a couple of years because of some penny pinching at the death
So all the speculation here about dead certs and people being in the know, nobody has known anything? All very amusing. Competitive tension is obviously the game. Doors wide open by the looks of it.View attachment 95112
