"The NRL expansion submission also included a question about potential licence fees that bids would be willing to pay. The Western Bears consortium indicated they wouldn’t stump up a licence fee."

So was there a licence fee or not.......what a question, why would you say yes if they were asking you if you wanted to.
Not only was there a license fee but…

The NRL has been clear that a prerequisite for a team in Perth will be a link with the North Sydney Bears, and that won’t change under new negotiations with government.

Whether that info was transparent or not to the public I guess is irrelevant. WA Consortium had parameters which were expected of them to follow. They didn’t. Here we are.

Oh well.

The bid was based on the Dolphins Bid. It was put together by the same entity and went above and beyond what they submitted.

Don't be fooled by the smoke screen, there wasn't a problem with the bid, PVL has dumped a licensing fee on them at the last minute and then thrown the toys out the cot when they didn't jump.
Yup, the NRL's f***-up not to stipulate an entry fee for the Brisbane2 bids in the last expansion phase (won by the Dolphins).

Now they're trying to over-compensate for THEIR error by foisting this $30mil fee on bidders THIS round, seemingly at the last minute.

If the NRL had managed this competently they would've decided on an entry fee as soon as they started looking at adding team 17.

Because they are morons who couldnt organise a pss up in a brewery. Vlandys has along track record of appaling negotiation outcomes yet many on here still kiss his dck at any opportunity.

The NRL find moving to Perth without North Sydney unbearable. It's a polarising issue.

Oh well, NEXT!!
Couldn't or wouldn't? I wouldn't have either given it was never a stipulation of application.
Western Australian team is coming. One way or another and it’ll still be Bears.

Ownership model and business people behind will be different that’s all.

The moment WA businessman started looking at Sydney investors for an WA owned side - something wasn’t right. Especially when they outright rejected far wealthier people who have ties to Bears. All comes out in the wash eventually. Better things await by looks of it. It’ll still be WA club for WA people. That won’t change.
