The Dolphins comparison is a distraction … Perth and Brisbane are different in the RL world … Covid going on when the Dolphins were admitted … no open tender happening …

The NRL also deemed the Dolphins being able to survive by themselves with their assets. This has been stated publicly.
They obviously do not deem the WA consortium in the same light. Which I remind you is their right to do so. It would be negligent of them not to look into perspective bids financial situations.
Ask for a BG then.

That would be quite reasonable, and SPECIFICY how much that BG should be.

Different markets. The Dolphins guaranteed better TV ratings in Queensland straight away.
A growth market like WA will take longer.
Obviously I don't know the reason for it, just looking at it all from an outside perspective.
The 18th team provides an extra game going into the next tv deal.

Both Foxtel and 9 have told Perth that they are their preference.

You can't see that by putting $0 value in joining the NRL is not only disrespectful but also not so bright?
Not disrespectful. In hindsight an error but not warranting this reaction. The bid has committed over $400 mill, a negotiation would be the appropriate response.
'We need this amount to accept the bid'

Unless V'landys is just a impulsive dickhead who just fires up over any old shit, there has to be more to it than the arbitrary licence fee point.

What’s the relevance of the Dolphins ?

The relevance of the Dolphins is they are the most recent team.

Any bids coming soon after it would look at it and think to themselves "that's roughly what we have to do"

When that recent expansion had a license fee of ONLY $5 million, which was waived, Peter saying saying "yeah mate, pay a significant fee" while he's had a skinful and the license fee you co.mit to is a blank field...

Is easy to see how this can be misinterpreted

This isn’t some kids sport where everyone is treated the same right ?

Who else has had a "you should have read my mind and known it was $20 million" treatment?

So again, is this fee about "you may fall down and we want to make sure you can cover the costs if tidying up the mess"?

Or is it "buying into the biz"

Or something else?

What exactly is it?
