lol .. Yeah … of course…$275m or whatever the figure is of Aust taxpayer money being spent on pathways would hopefully produce results

they need it … because their results to date of producing NRL level players has been poor …even after playing in the QLd cup for 15 years … it is a very small list of players who have stepped up into the NRL

Don’t assume this is just a matter of flipping a switch just because the PNG NRL team gets announced … this will still take a long time to get results after a lot of effort

They only won’t be first grade standard is resources aren’t put into them and they aren’t testing themselves against the best. You honest believe the next best 17 won’t have gems in that squad that won’t crack top level?

Cronk and Thurston didn’t look like first grade material at 14 and 15 when they played for Souths Acacia Ridge and Souths Sunnybank. How did that work out for them? There much better kids in front of them.

There’s already systems in place for WA kids to come to QLD. All you’re doing is improving that system to cater for more kids. You’re being naive for the sake of arguing here.
No I'm being realistic. You're creating a pathway from the north shore to Perth to Queensland. All in the hope of finding the next johnathan Thurston

Hey kids in the North Shore towers!

How would you like to play rugby league for your local team?

Yes, you say? Great, we'll get you tickets to Perth straight away.

Actually, you're probably not good enough. So you're actually going to Queensland.

Well f**k off to you too.
North Shore kids? You are arguing WA kids to start. Why are you changing it to suit your attempt at comedy?

It’s already happening. There already is a program in place between schools and junior clubs. The 3 at Souths also go to Marsden High (a jrl school of excellence and affiliate to Souths).

Then there’s the kids in Wynnum system. You’re simply adding to what’s in place already.

Incase you’re confused this is for WA kids. Not North Shore, I’m not in that on going debate. You brought me up and a comment I made and I replied. The comment i made was always in relation to WA, QRL and it being a short term solution.

If you're linking Perth and the bears why the hell are you going to Queensland?

It makes zero sense. The reason why the NRL are going with this crazy idea is to streamline the pathway process.

Hold on … go back to your quote that WA has “half that amount “ of development money

What I meant was

After looking at both systems. PNG was estimated to need $275m

WA $120m

There would be reasons for these figures and reasons why they aren't the same.

The 3 NRL club chairmen advising on expansion are better placed then anyone on here to make that judgement

You keep the best in the Bears NSW Cup system. The next lot need somewhere to go play against quality opposition and WARL isn’t it right now. So you send them to the other big junior comp, QRL.

Once WARL is up to a standard then you cut ties with QRL. This way you aren’t funnelling two
teams into the same comps. You’re distributing them whilst making sure they get the necessary experience against quality.

Short term solution to keep them going. That’s all it is.

The money for Perth development will never get paid … time will tell if there is any science behind this amount apart from the AFL Tasmania agreement
