Ironically id be laughing if this happens. Part of me has always felt that if it wasn’t setup right with the bears it would be a sht show. Maybe waiting for our own club however long that takes and let nz figure it out with a Sydney club might not be such a bad thing.

If Perth miss this time …2045 with Adelaide sounds good ! Unfortunately the old folks home you’ll be in will have the AFL channel on permanently…so you will never get to see them play …very sad

It means Perth doesn’t get a team in the foreseeable future. Of course that a bad thing.

Barcelona membership ownership model. Still a lot of questions re who pays start up costs and covers losses etc but I suppose say 20,000 members paying $100 a year is $2mill year extra revenue for the club. NRL must be pretty confident a perth bears club could generate 20,000 fans willing to pay to own a share of the club.

FC Barcelona is a fan-owned club, with 100% ownership held by its members, known as "socios". Socios pay an annual membership fee and have a say in the club's strategy:

• Membership fee: In 2023, the annual membership fee was €208, and is paid in full in December or January.

The proposed ownership model has a lot of merit and I’m somewhat relived nrl dont want to own a perth club And they aren’t just going to hand it to ns or Sydney investors.

only way I could see how the $30-50mill start up cost (presuming they still want the license fee) gets covered is if it’s a mix of private investors and members. Maybe 50-50 or like souths 75-25?
