That was a side that was losing by 60 most weeks, The aim is to get quality not East Coast cast offs
It was also a new set up without the elite pathways underneath it and with a number of WA's best talent at that age group already over on the east coast. The fact kids were willing to move to perth to be part of it was my point lol.

How many do that to take up a 1 year deal at just over $100k?
Who would be doing that? Those kids will mostly be in the NS system until they are ready to join the 32 man first team squad. Where the NSW cup side will run from will be interesting (presuming we havent gone back to a reserve grade by 27/28)

Either run two rg one in nsw (bears) and the other in qld cup (wa) or just bears nsw cup

Easier for nrl players to move over then kids

Yep and have a look at the bottom of the Jersey Flegg and The QRL version

Flegg last is Fiji. Storm ran 12/14
QRL Wide Bay ran last in both

These areas aren't bad at RL but shows how far in front areas with elite pathways are.

This is why I am for the Bears partnership, Whatever gives the best option to be good

Wide Bay is a strange one. A lot of genuine RL talent in the region however the best of the best usually end up in the Falcons (Storm) 2.5 hours away or Capras (Dolphins) 3.5 hours away systems.

Just no real corporate money in the Biggenden/Harvey Bay/Childers/Maryborough regions to invest into footy tbh.

That is the issue outside of Bris/GC

Sydney/Newcastle.

I think are few on here have their hands in the sand about the huge difference between elite junior development and just player numbers.

This is why getting these new sides setup correctly is key

When we we had an SG ball side we would get 4-5 east coast Jnrs each year come over to join the program and have a shot at being in the NRL shop window. Adam Quinlan, Waca Blake and Curtis Rhona were all kids who came over for SG ball and went on to have professional careers. We've seen plenty of WA kids go the other way for a shot as well.
I'm not concerned if players will want to move to Perth to play NRL. beautiful laid back city with plenty going on, incredible weather, amazing nature and cheap (relatively) housing. NS partnership gives them the option of developing in our systems on the East coast closer to home until they are ready to join the West coast set up at a snr level. Has worked well for Melbourne in Qlnd.
Curtis Rona was a Joondalup junior before going east and returning when the SG Ball team was an option. While as Giants president or secretary, at one point I had the entire club's history of team sheets of every grade for every year and saw his name and signature in the Under 10s (?) team sheets from whatever year that was.

We had Big Mal and his Kangaroos Squad help with board training today at my local surf life saving club Shelly Beach this afternoon.
The kids got a buzz, Bradman Best always competed at Surf Life Saving Carnivals for the Umina Club in the sand events winning many gold medals in the sprint events and the flags in his nipper years, he wasn’t any good in the water.
They then stuck around and had dinner in the Surf Club, great afternoon had by all.

Well there's your motivation: grow up in Sydney, dream of playing for the Perth Bears because one day i can buy a house!
Seriously I have tried to ignore your endless negativity towards the Bears in WA, you say you were an old Bears supporter back in the day ffs what did the Bears do to you ?, not win a title lol.
You continue to call the Bears parasites ?, have you seen the PNG bid ?, what do you think of them ?, they are fully supported by our Aust Govt $$$, they now have huge tax exemptions under the salary cap, their overseas players will have to live in a jail sorry compound, like c’mon all of the other self reliant bids have been rejected yet the Centrelink Kumuls get a saloon passage into the NRL because of the political threat of China and yet you show them no hate and you shit on your own ?.

What are you going on about now?
I have never supported the bears and never said I had. I have never called them parasites but have said that this is a dumb idea and that their time has passed.

I have repeatedly said that the png plan is wrongly timed and motivated and have scoffed the precinct idea.

2 angry bears now.

What's PNG ever done to you old timer bear?
Dragging in other "accepted" bids isn't what will win any arguments, however the money was granted, it's been granted, and the ARLC would be absolutely derelict in its duties to not accept it, you call the png bid parasites, when it's the politicians who pushed the use of those funds, Andrew Hill had previously said they could possibly raise their capital, and the bid wasn't reliant on govt funding, but the political angle was pushed by albo..

I'd be more worried if the NRL accepted the Western Bears bid without a licence fee
