November 18 and it’s very, very quiet, nothing is being reported.
Maybe something will come to light after the existing NRL clubs sign their new contract agreements ?.
If not maybe Santa will bring some good news ?.
I think right now the 3 Christchurch bids are in a bidding war behind closed doors. We'll get news when the gavel falls.

It's gone eerily quiet.. actually news is drying up on all fronts - Perth, PNG and NZ 2 (after a little flurry of NZ 2 news).

I wonder what's the latest.. and when we can expect something concrete.

Could West Aussie Bears be finally adhering to nda? Same with Papua. All the noise at this moment is coming from NZ, who ironically were quiet months back while the squeaky wheel was both Papua and West Aussie. Seems to have flipped a bit there.

Who knows. If I had a lazy $20 I'd say there might be some news this or next week. Then again most footy journo's are having a holiday break and Buzz who always had the scoops is probably enjoying his souvlaki's & mythos lager bit too much in Greece.

Week 7 since the GF day 'leak'. Fair to say its not going to plan lol
Was that a plan in your head because NRL never gave a date where teams would be announced.

Seems like it was the punters who creamed their jocks before she got undressed mate. What if it is going to plan and the speculation it isn't is because some punters patience is wearing thin? Unless you're part of the meetings, how would you possibly know? You a polli or footy admin?

There was a press conference booked for the Thursday after the GF .... its fair to say from both the Perth and NRL sides this has not gone to plan.

I love the people on here thinking they know what’s going on and using their own assumptions to create further assumptions.

According to who? Some guy on an internet forum?
Why would NRL book a press conference without having reviewed all bids properly first?

I'm lucky enough to have contacts within the WA side. I'm passionate about having a Perth side but I have absolutely zero interest in making stuff up on an internet forum ... believe what you will.
So either you have contacts within a small taskforce that's within WA Government overlooking negotiations or you have contacts in the WA Consortium which is made up of business directors?

I dare say the NRL would know when the NRL are announcing a new NRL club. Again why would they organise a press conference BEFORE reviewing the bids thoroughly? It's evident when they did review all the bids that there were clear gaps hence they came out and said none were up to scratch. So why have tentative press release dates for something that is not known when press releases can be organised in literally less than 2 hours notice.

Not saying I don't believe you but also not saying I believe you. Smells like someone might have sold you a cheese burger without the pattie there.

well the Western Bears bid had been given a 10/10 from NRL for their application and an 'outstanding' by Beatie in September, they were all in Sydney for Gf week recruiting staff so its fair to assume they were expecting to be there for an announcement maybe?

Abdo a year ago said the NRL would have announced it expansion plans by end of 2024. Two weeks ago Vlandys said they would be announcing things in 2-4 weeks time. tikety tok.

Yeah just do it on zoom aye?
You're kidding right? NRL HQ isn't that far from where the majority of rugby league journo's are located in Sydney.

There's been major Rugby League press release conferences called in much lesser time.
You're talking like it was organised weeks in advance which is ridiculous. Dolphins press release was called the day before their announcement.

10/10 by who? Did NRL come out and formally state this? As for the outstanding comment, something can be outstanding and superb and still fail.

Why would WA Bears be recruiting staff before a formal announcement? Where's a direct quote from Peter V'Landys saying there would be an announcement in 2/4 weeks time?

I feel like you lot are reading things that aren't actually being said by who you think they're being said by leading to confusion.

Where do you think the Perth Consortium and the WA state government might live ..... you don't think it would be a combined announcement?
