WA youngster Darius Rogers has signed with the Brisbane Broncos to join his older brother Josh.
Darius will play with the Broncos Hostplus QLD Cup side the Burleigh Bears until he gets his call up into the top grade.
20 year old Darius was the ISC NRL WA Fuel to Go&Play halfback of the year in 2024.

Great opportunity for him. Needs to stop letting his mum cut his hair though :)

Is Peter V'Landys only directly dealing with Papua and WA Bears? Do you think Peter has been buttering up Albo and Roger by constantly mentioning them when it comes to those two bids in particular?

If Papua has guaranteed cash then why haven't they been announced? Do you think they are waiting on WA being ready and it being a one, two punch announcement?
1. Yep png and western bears are the focus whilst he did meet one of the nz bids that one hasn’t been decided

2. Albo and cook are the ones pushing png / Perth nrl teams

3. Yeh waiting to sort out Perth first. Last comment on the png bid was it has all been sorted out and agreed to he’s just waiting to go to the clubs for final approval (explains delay as they want the clubs to approve both Perth and png)

Pvl was pretty emphatic a Perth bears team is strongly on the cards

so now you want screaming? lol
You asked where statements have been made. I've just shown you.
Tickety tok.
But they’re not statements into relation that an announcement was going to be made which is what I asked.

A statement from over a year ago and another which doesn’t elude to anything concrete doesn’t equate to announcements mate.

You have quite literally pulled things that were never concrete in any shape of form and made some massive assumptions up. I mean if you want to throw a LOL around throw it at that cob.

I actually believe them

Many people here were saying the same thing about an announcement being made

Pvl did a u turn not even the media knew what was going

So far we have experts in suburban Australia that know exactly what is happening in NZ with their sporting climate and seem to know exactly what NZ needs and expert insiders into West Aussie Bears who claim they were all set to be announced before the NRL had even reviewed their bid document or taken said document to the clubs for approval or the clubs were even themselves locked in with the overall club agreement. Neither really adds up when you think about it.

Anyways not trying to be a boot stuck in the mud here. Hopefully some real news comes out soon.

So the keys to the house was going to be given before the bank had even pre approved the loan? That’s kinda how it reads.

Beattie did say the bid was 10 out of 10

Other than a post on here about the arl wanting a board seat on the Perth bears there was no hint before hand that the bid wasn’t a winner

Despite what Peter Beattie said, his boss took the opposite view on the bid

Issue seems to be Beattie should’ve shut up

Yeah but did you pm people fifth-hand information that you were told 2 weeks after it happened. If not, you aren't a real insider.
Bugger cob, that sucks for sure. I take it someone hurt your feelings because they didn’t share things with you?

Hope you’re on the mend mate. I didn’t get anything sent to me either but then again I’ve only recently joined.

Is it established then that no one has any actual updates? That’s sucks even more. Was hoping to see something West Aussie Bears come through. Sand gropers deserve a team and Bears can come in and be the new Tigers, the also rans of the comp.

There is someone who can provide updates but the ususal mob just mock him and say he’s making stuff up

The ins and outs are getting boring wish they would just hurry up and announce it

The premier looks set to get his wish for more rugby league games, with WA expected to host three National Rugby League fixtures next year, on top of Game II of the State of Origin.

WAtoday and 9News Perth understand the NRL will announce a standalone match and a double header at HBF Park when it releases the 2025 draw.

Just one match was played in Perth in 2024, when 20,000 turned out to watch the Sydney Roosters defeat the Dolphins 40-34.
When asked on Monday if he would like more games brought to Perth, WA Premier Roger Cook said he “always wants more”.

“I always want to see the NRL come to Western Australia. We know NRL fans love to travel, and they come to the games over here, spend their money in the pubs, the clubs and the hotels, and it’s a boost to our great tourism industry,” Cook said.

“Of course, as a ‘leaguer’ myself, I love seeing the game in Western Australia, but we know that when we bring things like State of Origin to WA, all eyes of the world are on WA.
“Globally, it’s recognised as one of the great grudge matches of modern sport.”
It was revealed on Sunday that Optus Stadium would host Game II of State of Origin on Wednesday, June 18, 2025

The premier is travelling to Sydney this week and is expected to meet with NRL powerbrokers to discuss a new NRL team based in Perth from 2027 or 2028.

“I’ve had government officials meet with the NRL to consider the issues and the dimensions of negotiations,” Cook said on Sunday.

“The conversations are going forward.”

Progress was stalled when the Western Bears bid, led by Peter Cumins, spectacularly unravelled over a decision not to offer a license fee, at a time when head office was seeking a figure of approximately $20 million.

NRL figures, who spoke on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of discussions, told 9News Perth and WAtoday Perth was still considered “strategically” the best option for the game as the consortium revised its deal.

Now this is one of the ways how the 'license fee' will manifest itself, paying for games to be played in WA. I'm sure there are other ways being explored as well. It won't be a straight handing over $20m to the NRL in an envelope with 'license fee' written on it, as I guess some here would believe.

Would Cook be meeting PvL in person if we weren't close to announcement?
