Hasn't V'Landys said on multiple occasion that NRL and Commish aren't working with the West Aussie Consortium anymore? Peter Cumins sounded like a little baby in the interviews he did after grand final. Someone like that would get eaten alive in the pro rugby league environment.

Do you have any updates from the North Sydney side of things?

@Perth Red are you part of or associated with the West Aussie Consortium?
I think the deal may finally be done, the NRL giving WA a few extra NRL games in 2025 in just a sweetener, I honestly can’t see Roger Cook flying to NSW and both parties not agreeing, that certainly wouldn’t look good.
Promising times ahead.

The premier looks set to get his wish for more rugby league games, with WA expected to host three National Rugby League fixtures next year, on top of Game II of the State of Origin.

WAtoday and 9News Perth understand the NRL will announce a standalone match and a double header at HBF Park when it releases the 2025 draw.

Just one match was played in Perth in 2024, when 20,000 turned out to watch the Sydney Roosters defeat the Dolphins 40-34.
When asked on Monday if he would like more games brought to Perth, WA Premier Roger Cook said he “always wants more”.

“I always want to see the NRL come to Western Australia. We know NRL fans love to travel, and they come to the games over here, spend their money in the pubs, the clubs and the hotels, and it’s a boost to our great tourism industry,” Cook said.

“Of course, as a ‘leaguer’ myself, I love seeing the game in Western Australia, but we know that when we bring things like State of Origin to WA, all eyes of the world are on WA.
“Globally, it’s recognised as one of the great grudge matches of modern sport.”
It was revealed on Sunday that Optus Stadium would host Game II of State of Origin on Wednesday, June 18, 2025

The premier is travelling to Sydney this week and is expected to meet with NRL powerbrokers to discuss a new NRL team based in Perth from 2027 or 2028.

“I’ve had government officials meet with the NRL to consider the issues and the dimensions of negotiations,” Cook said on Sunday.

“The conversations are going forward.”

Progress was stalled when the Western Bears bid, led by Peter Cumins, spectacularly unravelled over a decision not to offer a license fee, at a time when head office was seeking a figure of approximately $20 million.

NRL figures, who spoke on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of discussions, told 9News Perth and WAtoday Perth was still considered “strategically” the best option for the game as the consortium revised its deal.

First payment towards a deal ?

Is it safe to assume there will be a 3 way meeting between Roger, V'Landys/NRL and maybe Bears officials? Do you have a gut feeling of what the costs that might have been agreed to are or when a potential time line of sealed deal press release report might come out?

Will Daniel Dickson have enough hair dye?

Do you think that's what it is? Because firstly they couldn't get a deal done then next minute WA have origin and 3 NRL games all in one season. I think the most top footy they've had in a single year since Reds years.

I guess origin was probably lined up last year or year before so I won't say thats a recent event. Probably 1 of the 2025 nrl games was also lined up by a club last year. But the double header sounds like a new recently agreed to thing.

Well it is at least a show of good intent. I guess we will see what happens next.

Origin deals are done multiple years in advance.

There was also a Perth Double header in 2023. Only didn’t have it in 2024 due to Vegas making one of the sides not want to travel to Perth for another game.

That's what I thought about origin. Still the optics look like NRL are throwing things WA's way, even though we know WA are paying for it.

Hopefully it all tracks in the right direction for West Aussie Bears

Wa govt paid for those games. It’s a sweetener that pvl and the wa govt negotiated as part of the package the wa govt spends on this bid

I wonder if the nrl buys those games from clubs or the clubs themselves get the money

Having regular origin games there will help the nrl side too. And also grow tv ratings for nrl games

6PR presenter Oliver Peterson mentioned the meeting on the radio just then. Apparently the govt have come up with more money for grassroots and the original bid team have come up with the $20mill license fee.
Doesn't sound like Cumins is out.

The meltdowns in this place will be glorious if BuilderBear and his mates are out, and Cumins is back in.

I have a couple questions for you Maximum.

Why would Peter V’Landys publicly state on more than one occasion that he isn’t dealing with the West Aussie consortium if the consortium is still around?

Why has the nrl and V’Landys only been negotiating with West Aussie government if west Aussie consortium was still a thing

Why would NRL reject West Aussie consortium outright and not bother to accept any revised proposal from them if there was intentions to work with Peter Cumins and consortium later?

Why wouldn’t Peter Cumins be coming to Sydney with West Aussie government to meet with NRL and presumably the Bears if he was still part of the picture?

I saw a Facebook post from the 6pr dude and his post was 4 days old. Did no one from Perth pick up on the news before today?

Is builderbear a member here? I haven’t seen them post and couldn’t find any posts from them. Is builderbear part of the bid or part of the north Sydney bears administration dealing with the nrl and west Aussie government?

If builderbear isn’t part of the bid or bears administration then how would they be left out of something they isn’t part of? Also how could Bears be left out of something they are confirmed by the nrl and Peter V’Landys to be part of?

Just curious to see how you came to your post. Kinda seems like it’s built on you being bitter or something? Hopefully not, no point being bitter cob.
