I think it would be pretty naive to assume there hasn't been lobbying involved in the AFL getting their Ozkick numbers included.

Yes we have a rugby league reporter at the west Australian, and 6pr cover the game well As do SEM. As you’d expect in a city where a sport has largely ignored it for 27 years and become niche through neglect the covg is minimal.

what I will say is the process for this has really taken the excitement and initial enjoyment out of getting a team in Perth for fans here and in NS. After being screwed a few times both sets of fans are like yeh whatever, wake me up if and when they announce it. Shame as few months ago the energy was huge. It will limp into existence now rather than land with a bang,

Presuming wa election is first week of March it’s likely caretaker mode will start first week off Feb. Xmas two weeks off for everyone, 7 weeks left to overcome the remaining hurdles get a deal signed off, treasury and cabinet agreement etc.

it’s looking likely cook will still be premier after the event so if not done we’ll be mid to end of March time before announcements. That’s really pushing it for 2027 start up.

shame if they’d accepted the western bears bid we’d now have the announcements, a coach, ceo, pathways planned and be talking to players.

surprised there’s been no leaked news from last weeks club meeting. I’d have expected if things were looking lined up they’d have got in principle agreement from clubs for png and Perth and we might have heard something.

As usual it’s measuring 16 nrl sides against 18 fumbler side

It literally says participation, not registered players. WA is showing 6,200 in WA when we have 4,400 registered players. What it shows is how much afl invests in kids participation programs compared to RL. Beyond that it doesn’t mean much,

Other than the Riverina and part of the north shore Balmain and some of the eastern suburbs their participation would be close to zero

Lieing like this helps them bludge more money off the govt

Sigh. It’s not lieing, it’s data based on organised participation not registered players. No one is claiming this data is just the number of registered players for any sport. Hence why WA RL number is 50% higher than the number of registered players.

Like I said all it shows is they spend more on school participation programs. If that’s a good investment for a sport or not I guess is up to you, and more importantly the people setting strategic plans for the codes to decide. Being every sport does it I guess they all see value in it.

I’m guessing the data must be pooled from the respective codes reported figures though?

scrap that just looked it up and it’s a sample survey. Interestingly 80% of respondents are over 30 years old, you’d think that would skew the figures quite a bit to less physical demanding sports.
