If you can’t run a successful nrl club on a grant of 5 million or more over the salary cap then you have to be some kind of special donkey

Times have changed since the days of 95 (plus all travel costs are paid for by the league)

Some clubs are getting a lot more than that. 2023 Broncos got $19.4mill from NRL + $1.5mill in development pathways grants from NRL and QRL.
Cap $12.1mill men's + $880k womens.

surplus from grants after player payments to spend on club operations: $7.9million!

Nothing in the Western Bears bid to say they wouldn't have been sustainable. Had start up money, had fall back money. Had 6 rich guys with deep pockets. Between a cheap stadium deal, having a CofE built for them, a strong fan east and west coast fanbase and a $20mill annual NRL grant there is nothing to suggest the Western Bears bid wouldn't have been successful. Instead the whole thing is now at the whim of an election and Labor getting back in. Thankfully the signs are good that will happen.
theres plenty to say it wasnt sustainable. hence it wasnt accepted and by vlandys own words it wasnt a sustainable business model. not sure how much more you need, unless you think you know more than the head of the game

South's were out of league at one point. Dolphins in the bottom rung longer. That's rusted on.
Aside from Newcastle fans, god bless them, all clubs lose 20-50% of the bandwagoners when they do poorly. Except Sharks as well as they didn't really pick up many when they did well! Dolphins are still riding the novelty wave but have already lost 20% of crowd from Yr1 to Yr 2
But yeh keep on believing its just a potential Melbourne thing lol

Redcliffe and bears had team in top flight. Were removed but still exist. Perth reds had team in top flight and no longer exist.

finally some updates. lines up with a combination of what red bears and perth reds said. one said we probably get updates this week and we dids. other said things are on going and by cookies own words they are. still all vagues though and choice of words is on purpose i thinks.

cants see the concerns pertho spoke about though but not that cookie would say it even if their were and likewise if things were done i doubt he would explicitly says that too right? to me it reads like it all but done but for whatever reason isnt being released right now during these earlier months of election shit talking. who knows cause i dont.

secret government security asio sources unite!

So my source was correct, they are still in negotiations. Sigh.
