He hit the nail with this: "I have not seen the new NRL bears version logo as yet, but what I will tell you is WESTERN BEARS should never ever look like the North Sydney Bears, that is in the best interest interest of both franchises"

If by “hit the nail” you mean misunderstood the entire assignment.
Plus what even is the second franchise when he says “both franchises”?
Talk like that is what made people think it was some kind of Bears/Reds merger.

Call it whatever you want but there is 2 parties in the club. Perth and Norths. You're going to concede some things, as a norths fan.

did anyones catch this last year?
I remember seeing it.

I'm 99% sure he is the guy who designed the West Coast Pirates logo, and original GC Titans too (??).

Maybe I'm wrong, but the vibe I've picked up from his posts online is that his design/s weren't picked and he's bitter about it. I feel like his style is stuck in the 1990s with the more cartoonish emblems and dated typefaces, and he can't (or simply doesn't want to) keep up with the things of simpler logos for sports clubs. And he kinda resents the direction logos are taking vs his 1990s style.

In not intending to be critical, mind you. As a former graphic designer myself, and one who still dabbles in Rugby League logos, my hat is off to anyone who gets to the point where their logos are on NRL jerseys. My logos have generally only gotten to local club level or local rep level (apart from one logo which was a national logo for that country, used in RL internationals). Anyone who can design logos that 'make it' I'm envious of.

thats a good summation nuclear. it sounds like old mate is bitter that his potential trash logo wasnt accept. in an age where most nrl logos are now crisp and less is more, his was probably a monstrosity concoction of everything bad about late 90s early 00's sports logos.

Looking through that Facebook, it looks like he's also responsible for the current Roosters, former Raiders, Panthers, Eels, Sea Eagles, Chargers, Steelers and a few Origin and GF logos, to name a few.

Yes, his stuff is quite outdated by today's standards, so if he did anything that resembles the above, I don't blame Norths or the NRL for knocking it back.

I'm more baffled by his contradiction when he says "should never ever look like the North Sydney Bears" then goes on to say "I did the branding for Northern Eagles, that merger was real unfair for North’s fans". So he thought it was a merger (it wasn't) but was still intent on making it have no resemblance to the club at all? 🤦‍♂️
