Nah, it benefits the NRL by increasing viewership across Sydney TV audiences, also benefits those away Sydney crowds.
Add to that the overall sense that the game is healing from the SL war. Then of course WA benefits from the pathways in place and tapping into a rich 100 year history instead of being simply a pop up brand.

But sure besides all that..
No one in perth cares if NS have a hundred year old history lol. Sure adds 20-50k tv audience in Sydney and a few hundred to Sydney crowds I suppose. But let’s not pretend, vlAndy’s remains nsw myopic and cares more about getting a dead Sydney club back than he does a Perth club. Perth id just an opportunity because of govt cash, like png, not a growth strategy for the game.

@Gobsmacked pointed our all the benefits both to the team itself and also the game of rugby league

Yeh but in W.A. you have Perth red and his mates as neighbours

In sure the png facility will be built on the beach with exclusive beach access for their players

Meanwhile the Perth boys will be holed up in an industrial area of Malaga
I know you're stupid but there's no need to show it at every opportunity.

That's not true. Look at the comments Politis has made about 20 teams. Pretty much speaks for NRL administration.

Perth doesn’t need Sydney TV viewership. This isn’t a prerequisite for any other expansion team. Those ‘away sydney crowds’ is an issue for the Sydney clubs.

It’s been 30 years. We have record crowds and tv viewership. We’ve healed plenty.

WA has more juniors than some clubs and that’s before being a part of the competition. Also, I don’t think a brand that had a 90 year history and base that still fell over is any better than a ‘pop up brand’.

Have them come in by proxy? Cool whatever. But let’s not give their narcissistic higher-ups the belief that they’re doing some noble thing by associating with Perth. This is just News Corp manufactured consent of a gerontocratic pushed type of think, that has created and will solve the same problem. Constant Bears whinging and hijacking of expansion discussions.

The Sydney clubs along with other stakeholders have to accept expansion. So if having a Bear name brings fans to those clubs it helps the bottomline

NRL doesn't need these new areas to survive, They want them and that is a big difference

What Sydneysider is going to watch a team from WA with a very tenuous link to a mediocre team that went bust 20 years ago?
They might pull a bit more from supporters of the Bears traditional rivals but isn't that just Manly?

I'm struggling to think of any other Sydney clubs that have that kinda long running & intense rivalry with the Bears.

Sydney experts feel free to correct me, but from what I gather it's not like how Parramatta have long running & ongoing rivalries against Penrith, Canterbury Bankstown AND Manly.. right?

It seems like Norths had sympathy from other clubs fans instead of any great hate & fierce competition/rivalry... the lovable losers that everyone cheered for if their own team wasn't playing...

for someone like you who posts and replies in every major thread topic ie expansion, stadiums, broadcast deals etc you really are clueless about both the game of rugby league, sports business and sports administration as a whole.

perthwrongs, ding dong.

if you poked your head out of his forum for a moment and go into the real worlds there’s bears fans out there. contrary to what you think alwaysloser, the games administrators know more about the metrics of the sports that meet key criteria ie where what when how say more than you do cob.

If they believe there’s a market for it then there’s a market for it and no matter how many loser replies you give to people you obsess will change that. So slow down on being a tosser and a loser and get with it.

Nothings changed for me, they are an unfortunate convenience. I’d much prefer a new perth club for perth. But we have no option so it’s live with it or don’t.
what has changed is I had faith the wa consortium would have made sure the most important things for wa rugby league and fans happened. I have no such faith with vlandys and ns making decisions for the club.
