Pvl saw that the Tasmanian govt is paying 12 million pa to cover the losses of the afl team for ten years plus hundreds of millions on stadia

He saw the W.A. govt pay 1 million a game for Melbourne afl sides to play games there

So using those benchmarks he demanded W.A. invest 12 million x ten years into league like tassie is doing for afl

If you take out the stadium funding the W.A. govt was actually spending very little directly on rugby league before Pvl asked for something decent
and the WA govt rightly pointed out that AFL was also pumping in $150million to Tassie and said they would match whatever NRL put in for grassroots. Fair does.

Its actually going to be somewhere in the region of $65million without the stadium, hardly small change in an AFL state and by far the biggest state Govt investment in the game outside NSW and Qlnd.
And once again the stadium spend will onlyhappen to give the NRL club the best chance of success. So it is directly tied to there being a license granted and part of the investment in achieving that.

THE AFL has pledged to spend $360 million on a Tasmanian team, noting approval for a 19th licence is contingent on funding being secured for a new stadium.

The money, to be spent over a decade, includes more than $90 million in game development and $33 million to develop young players in three new "talent academies".

AFL chief Gillon McLachlan said $210 million would be rolled out for a new club over a decade to cover "base funding", including specialist list establishment.

He said the League would also chip in at least $15 million towards a proposed new stadium in Hobart – a figure the AFL had already committed.

Funding TWO stadiums in Tasmania when both are currently in perfect condition is the biggest waste of tax payers money since the submarine deal

If the afl had asked for them to be gold plated the Tasmanian govt would’ve bent over and done it

Most money ever offered by a State govt in an AFL state by a very long way. Context is everything. Easy to sign a big cheque of our money when you are the Feds and have little oversight.

I was specifically talking about grassroots funding and Wb's ignorant comments that as Tassie is getting that so should a Perth NRl club.
Just pointing out that whilst the Tassie Govt is indeed putting in $12mill a year so are the AFL to grassroots.
Hence why it's a smart move by the WA govt to retort with we will do a 1:1 if thats your example.

It is, and yet, you are balls deep in the "HBF needs to be immediately upgraded camp" even though its better than 9 of the current home grounds used in the NRL.

Lol

It’s only W.A. and Adelaide that could have an nrl team

And the previous offer was zero big deal

Does money from afl states have a higher value than money from anywhere else )?
