For what my opinion / thoughts are worth (as a passionate League supporter, WA resident, and former graphic designer) regarding the logo, the WA/Perth/Western/WestCoast Bears are a brand new entity. A new club who will have the benefit of a pathways (and former top-flight) club who will feed into this brand new club and bring along a set of established supporters, which will be perfect for away games in NSW.
The key thing is that this is a brand new club with ties to a former club. This new club, as a nod to the feeder club, will take on the moniker of 'Bears' and the red-and-black colours.
All these online debates about whether the feeder-club's logo, jersey, history, ect, should be taken on or not are moot because this is not the North Sydney Bears either relocated or merging with the WA 'Whatevers' club.
NRL's Dolphins have used their feeder club's mascot and colours, but have a different logo and jersey design, and have altered the colour-scheme a tad to differentiate themselves from their Qld Cup entity, and this is exactly what WA's Bears will and should do as well... especially as they will be further removed from their feeder club than Dolphins are from theirs (as Redcliffe established their own NRL entity themselves).
Thus:
* WA's logo should be their own logo, but shouldn't be too far removed as to be unrecognisable from the iconic NthSyd logo (ie: not that CC Bears logo, nor the original incarnations of NthSyd's bear logos). It needs to be a modern, new take on that bear-head emblem. Any logo ideas that I've mocked up (have I shared them all in here? I don't remember!) have had these points firmly in mind.
* WA's colours should be red and black, yes, but another would be a good move. Obviously gold/yellow makes the most sense and would look great.
* WA's jerseys should be unique and their own, however elements from NthSyd's more famous and popular jerseys could certainly be included. And of course there's always room for heritage kits (as every NRL club these days have about a hundred different kits per year, including training kits and game-day warm-up kits, ect).
Again, for what my opinion's worth.
