The temp training facilities at Ken Allen field are already underway. There was a big development plan for this area already committed to by State and local Govt and they are just tagging the Bears facilities on to it.

Double header looks slow at moment, Theres a lot of disgruntlement at the moment in the WA RL community and that may be reflected in ticket sales. Many sick of investing in NRL and getting the run around. Hopefully it picks up in next couple of weeks if we get some positive news.

Perth Origin is June 18th. May coincide, or may not lol.
You should warn people where your tickets are so the decent bears fans on this thread that are going over don’t get stuck next to you

What a dogs breakfast this has become. Surely in hindsight sitting down with the Cummins bid team (with the backing of the state government) and negotiating through concerns relating to investment, NS branding etc. would have been better than the scorched earth approach taken and where we sit now

Like I've said for some time, I suspect the intention was never to go with a private ownership model for WA. Vlad thought WA govt would roll over and acquiesce to new funding demands in October when they dumped the bid and they haven't.
There is no way in the world the WA govt didn't have an original plan and agreement in place after 2 years of conversations with the NRL and Western Bears.

Antagonism is Vlandys MO, you only have to look at many of his 'negotiations' over the years.

More likely the anti NRL campaign the AFL and their compliant media is running might be having an impact ? The election is over ..but it looks like Cook is going to still be hounded

At least the COE won’t be an issue …wasn’t aware of that

Thats just feeding into peoples frustrations that have been growing since October 6th.

Of course the AFL loving Liberal leaning paper will keep at him, now he has said it wasnt an election issues as no deal done he cant suddenly announce a deal is done. Vlandys keeps stoking the fire with ill thought through comments.

mate … you are equating people going to the footy for an afternoons entertainment to being motivated by something more…showing support ( or in this case the opposite ) for the new team or disenchantment about the treatment of Cumins , whom im assuming 90 percent of the crowd at the game have never heard of ….

Even if that was the case ..why would they be angry with PVL? He actually wants a team there? Do they really care who the owner of the team is ?

not really almost the exact same process happened with papua, aus gov and nrl. almost beat for beat and only difference was the fact no election was on during negotiations. cumins wasnt it, its been proven here ad nauseam by people who actually know whats going on. not this fairy tale fantasy land that perthwrongs lives in.

perthwrongs produces another whopper of lack of intelligence and being wrong.

no one gives a crap about cumins, locals or otherwise.

vlandys is the first chair/ceo since arko/quayle to actively try bring west aussie back into the pro rugby league circles and establish a team. yet somehow this tosser perthwrongs cant see it.

who can he compare it to? whittaker? moffat? gallop? smith? seriously dudes delusional. all because he probably was promised by cumins that he could drive his piece of shit mini's around the ground on game day while promoting second hand rolex's and second hand nintendo 64's as a cash converters plug. buy 1 and we'll throw in a second hand makita power tool free of charge.

Its not the ownership issue, its that once again, not for the first time, we've had expectations built up and then seen it come to nothing. Its very deja vue for a lot of fans here.

The fact there was WA led consortium ready to hit the ground running and was turned down only adds fuel to the fire for frustrated fans. As you say most people dont understand the ins and outs but they do see the headlines and for many this is 2012 and 2015 and 2019 all over again. Theres going to be blow back and it may be that the slow ticket sales are reflective of that. Or it may just be the lack of promotion so far. We shall see.

No nrl knew them owning it was the only way it was going to work

The bears have never had any real direct involvement it was all Cummins

Pvl realised Cummins was going to screw the bears so stepped in to ensure their brand wasn’t diluted

He also doesn’t want the bears owning it for fear it will be seen as an east coast team

They will run the club until such time the logos and colours are sorted but the club is seen as a wa club, and then sell to the right owners

You should be happy the wa govt is spending more on rugby league in wa

Lots of disheartened responses at Club land. Heard of a couple examples of our best talented 17/18 yr olds being disheartened and moving to Rugby pathways.
