People put in considerable effort to bid and assuming they're in business, they'd understand how risk/ rewards work and put in the equivalent to what they were willing to risk.
There was around a dozen bids, regardless of the process, obviously there were always going to be losers.
It's not a simple as just deciding on an area.
PNG is a third world country that on the surface had no chance at NRL but through this process we found 600 million dollars that assured the NRL that it won't be a money pit.
The WA bid weren't as convincing. What the NRL has weight up is over the coming years and decades into the future is that this bid will produce less than a desired bottom line for the game.. or that there's one's that will outpace it.
It would have been wonderful if the WA government had announced a brand new state of the art purpose built stadium and a financial incentive to the NRL to put a WA franchise beyond doubt but of course it's all PVL fault.
I'm absolutely over the moon to have a leader that puts himself in the firing line because he care more about what's best for the game .
