For clarity my name is Gerry and I reside in Thornlie, WA. Which is south of Perth. I would have thought that much was obvious given my username. Maybe this place is just too east coast centric. Weird for fans who supposedly want to expand into the state of WA.
I thought it was a deliberate misspelling of the Sydney suburb which is in bears territory

In the space of less than a month you've discovered this backwater thread and regurgitated Matt's talking points?

What this has shown is what a grubby sport afl is

They don’t want competition

A strong sport wouldn’t be worried about a rivals expansion clubs it would let the market decide

Seeing people here saying both sports can happily coexist in nsw and qld but then it comes to their turf it’s a different story
While AFL might be grubby, why would you not block your opposition if you have the power? It's called business and an incumbent protecting/maintaining/growing its market share. The question now is what will the NRL do? Will they forge ahead in WA if they believe their product is viable in that market or retreat back to established markets in NSW, QLD and NZ. And yes I know about PNG but there is no opposing sport and was never happening unless Albo gifted them 600m.

Vlandys has had 2.5 years to get this deal done with the wa govt. Who else you going to blame for it being allowed to be dragged out to an election issue and end up compromising the outcome? Cook will do what’s best for him And his party, that’s his job. Vlandys should have done what’s best for rugby league, a long time ago.

westen bears could be up and running by now and the wa govt locked in to all they was offering Last October. Thats on Vlandys And no-one else.
No. Whatever is going on now doesn’t mean not accepting a poor bid from a poor consortium last year was wrong.

You can’t hold an NRLW license without being an NRL club.
All NRL fans know this. Why was this added to your post?

I wouldn't worry too much mate. It's the go to move on here when people are flustered. I've got a bunch of cretins on the Eels forum chasing shadows convinced I'm this persons alt or that persons alt.

NZ is no retreat mate, especially the south island.
That's the very core of RU heartland.

Not flustered at all.

Just amuses me when these 'new' accounts are instantly drawn into and get on the same side as posters that have been MIA.

Particularly as this Matt one was just a troll and threatening other posters

Fair enough. Having been accused of being an alt myself I'm just prepared to accept when someone explains who they are. I'm not familiar with this Matt guy, but if he resorted to threats then he must have been a real douchebag.

There is often a why of typing that is the same for the Alts. Mostly no one cares except if the poster was a fool or abusive then it stands out.

The problem seems to be that the NRL ( ie the Clubs that comprise it ) doesn’t really seem to have any plan or long term strategy for expansion ..it seemingly is all about the bottom line and how much money will be passed back to them in return for their agreement to admit another member to their group and divide the pie further …seems a pretty dumb strategy for a sporting league to undertake …

Are you aware of the SL war? Only a very short time ago, Rugby League went all out on expansion and it went broke.

Souths , 100 years of history- gone.
WA - gone
SA- gone
SEQ crushers- gone
GC- gone
Balmain- gone
Magpies- gone
Manly- gone
St George Dragons- gone
Illawarra steelers- gone
North Sydney Bears- gone

Absolutely devastating to the game, what? 27 years ago?

We're only just back on our feet.
I know, let's just blow the f**king lot again....

We've got Souths back.
We got GC back.
We got having a second team in Brisbane back.

We're only just coming back and if we want to expand again, we better be sure as shit it's guaranteed to work!!!

Sydney lost a lot of clubs! To carry on like they're being to protective is incredibly insensitive.

So WA needs to get it's shit together! Big time! It can't be a drag! It needs top notch facilities and funding!

The WA government has been well short of the mark and we all know why!!!
