This all went to shit when the NRL said it has to be the Bears brand. What a stitch up for WA. why the f**k would people in Perth get excited for a 25 years defunct sydney club. Peter V'landys, what a muppet.

Then they don't get a team, I am sure not 1 club has 2nd thoughts over admitting a 80% complete club

Hmmmm.

The NRL saw WA as a bit of a cash cow and made some extraordinary demands, which we don’t believe were ever put to other similar teams,”

“There was a private sector bid that was put forward, and we’re very disappointed that it was rejected.

“So it appears it’s fallen through, but as I said, I’ve seen no formal communication back from the NRL.”

It’s disappointing that the NRL has, I think, conducted these negotiations and discussions through the media,
and also made other claims about things that have been happening.”
Cookie is a liar

Maybe having a pro fumbler premier who is honest would be preferable

The people of WA were just excited to have an actual rugby league side in their State to call their own Mong-goose, as Bears fans were just happy to have an actual location for their colours/mascot to come back.

The existing clubs were happy to have the fans as away fans buying tickets.

WA and any potential new side know what is needed to get in

From what I saw on social media , there appeared to be a lot of WA people against the idea of a hook up with the Bears …just saying …

This'd be a great point if people had stopped supporting the club altogether 25 years ago.
Also the muppets are quite entertaining, PVL doesn't have that same charm.

You haven’t been following the news on this at all have you?

It’s gone down hill because of back tracked agreements by the WA state government. Wouldn’t matter if the club was named Reds, Pirates, Bears or Mongooses. We would unfortunately be in the same situation.

This is always the issue when using what you see from minorities that comment about these news items online and mistakenly taking that as the real life consensus.
This. Also a lot aren't even in WA, they just can't get their head around it because there aren't any examples of it happening before.

Well … as I’m not over there what other things should I use ? Opinions of people here ? No thanks … other forms of media ? No thanks …

Maybe I should just subscribe to the West Australian instead so I can get an unbiased view of what is going on over there …

I’m offering an opinion based on my observations … you may not agree with it, but it’s just as valid as your observations… which also unlike mine , seem to have an obvious bias attached

this might be papuan related news but this is what they are doing

1743982112989.png

thats great initiative. i know many are critical of it but all these games live on digicel and even if 5% graduate to nrl quality thats a decent new pool of player resources to add to the over all comp.

i think west aussie gov missed this point. need to invest into the entire thing to make it a watertight business case and im sure thats the words nrl will be flinging from the rafter. business case/model.
