You realise each paragraph contradicts the next, right?

It’s rejected yet she hasn’t heard back from the NRL.

Claims NRL are playing things out in the media yet for the last couple of months all the quotes have been coming from WA with vast majority out of The West. This past weekend only WA Gov have been quoted and have been trying to control the narrative.

So what is it?
She is saying the NRL hasn’t communicated anything but the media is saying it has been rejected. hence the use of the words ‘appears to have’. So why has the media got this news before the wa govt? Again!

maybe if it was still 1987 but its 2025. A "billion" dollar industry should be doing everything possible to make a team in the 4th biggest market in the country work.

The Cumins model, as a business, wasn’t sustainable mate. They might have had upfront cash but had no assets and no guarantees for future proofing. No collateral. It doesn’t matter what an individual has in that regard, NRL have learnt from Searle and from Tinkler. So that does not apply.

They disregarded a simple brief, failed to communicate with the people making decisions, brought in people into the fold that they were explicitly advised not to bring in.

Perhaps his heart was in the right place but the self proclaimed commercial beast in Cumins came out looking like a commercial kitten.

They had a few million buffer and said that the revised offer included bank guarantees. The fact they were able to come up with an extra $20mill in a few weeks suggest they had more money behind them.

They went in with a low ball offer. It’s hardly unheard of in business! If the commission got so upset by that they didn’t want to talk anymore then I’d question if they should be running the game.
is t it more likely nrl thought “hang on we can get wa govt to pony us up loads of money and own the asset ourselves, then flog it off later for a nice earner”?

the consortium was made up of 6 highly successful business people. Pretty sure their track record in business speaks for itself.

I thought she would have learned by now not to believe anything you read in the media…they had the Bears across the line about 8 times haha
Vlandys told all bids they were not good enough through the media before they told the bids. It’s hardly a precedent in this whole farce.

you know what else is hardly unheard of in business? Groups making offers which ultimately get rejected ….

Why does the Govt care who the owner of the Bears are? And why wait 6 months before commenting about it after they were rejected ?

Just because these business people excelled in their specific field doesn’t mean they understand corporate sports business, which clearly they didn’t.

A few million dollars as a buffer in a sports environment that can fluctuate and where you can lose that over the course of a few shit months isn’t exactly confidence raising. Especially in a non-heartland with a new set up and metrics data which doesn’t show overwhelming support and cause.

$100m would have done it. $60m start up, $20m for their fee, $20m as BG’s.

$30m inclusive of BG’s and then scampering for a further $20m was never going to get it over the line.

I’m just being honest with you mate.

Probably because they spent $1/2mill on that bid and countless hours of time. I assume they would also have preferred a wa club to be wa owned,
