AFTER the NRL leaked to SMH saying they were turning down the offer, yes.
No leak, no running commentary from WA this week.
Why some of you are trying to defend Vlandys for this disgrace is beyond me. Either he has leaked the story, or someone close to him has leaked the story, or SMH has made it up. Either way a message to Cook on April 4th when it broke is what any normal person in negotiations like this would have done.
Actually that article you provided - just above the pic - says the NRL advised the WA Govt that they want to park discussions and revisit later.

But they are saying no one has spoken to them and the offer was turned down.

They can’t both be accurate summaries. Maybe neither are accurate.

Perhaps the ARLC will send PVL back into the negotiations, after the TV deal I guess.

Cook has got the upper hand though .. Maybe as you alluded too,,, they chuck in an extra $5m and he still looks like he has taken PVL to the cleaners …

It seems like a lot of effort to “put in the bin” and start again in two years time …and all the problems are still going to be there then for the NRL
I hope so, it seems crazy NRl would walk away from this for the sake of a redevloped stand. If they do I can only assume they have a better option for club 19 or they were never really serious about a club in Perth.

Every quote from sports minister and premier since the SMh story has said they havent heard from the NRL. Which I can understand tbf as the discussion needs to go to the commission before any decision gets made.
Why the NRL would feel the need to leak it to SMH a week ahead of that meeting I guess only Vlandys or Abdo could tell us.

Yes they could park it until after tv deal is done so they know what they have. But Id have thought having it as part of the negotiations would have been preferable? WA govt isnt going anywhere for 4 years so they have all the time, unless they pull the offer.

I don’t like Rita’s tough talking though in regards to a last minute save …she seems to think the deal is off

Why would he waste anymore time with that back stabbing snake.
If it delays chch idc anymore tbh let them have their crap bid

The obvious play if this falls over is nz2 in but Pvl seems to be convinced of a Perth nrl team

But your right Cummins and cook are mad liars

Yeh, no one likes her here lol. Shame she got the job and Peter Tinley didnt stay on and take it. He would have got the deal done!

I hate the way NRl does its business at times and how they are screwing this golden opportunity up.
I love RL, always have always will.
if it doesn't happen so be it, My Sl team are sitting top of table, I'll keep following my NRL club from afar and looking forward to one day having the time to volunteer at my local NRLWA club.
A perth NRL club would have been a great thing for Perth and my dissapointment is more for our grassroots and the kids than me having a club to call mine own in NRL. But yeh I'll go watch AFL lol, Im not Wb.
Even AFL only get 70k ratings in Perth, it's not the golden opportunity you think it is. NRL has thrived without Perth and will continue to thrive without Perth if it has to.

NZ, the Pacific, SL in the UK and France, it's a big world out there.

Mate. The NRL has been quoted for nothing. It your polly mates that have been quoted in the media trashing the NRL.
Cook and his cronies have cooked it.
They could have also stayed silent but now they've been quoted trashing the NRL in public, they can't go back to the NRL with a bigger better deal can they?

the WA government loosely committed to the deal with the NRL to get the votes of any RL person- got the vote, then blame the NRL.
WORKED A TREAT!!! YOU DUMB f**kS SWALLOW EVER WORD!!!

idiots!! I told you that what they were doing a month ago and you're still oblivious!
WAKE UP ! YOU'VE BEEN CONNED!

good luck convincing the Broncos and Dolphins another team is coming in on their turf. Katoni will be pumped up though.

Christchurch has the stadium but small population...

Perth adds the most value...

if Cook comes over the top of her - does she carry much weight in the party room?
No, Cook rules it. She has plenty of clout as Treasurer but She wants his job when he quits so she wont be rocking the boat too much. Itll be interesting for them, getting a fourth term is always incredibly hard and if Basil doesnt stuff up he will at least provide some opposition. They will be treading carefully this next 4 years.

Never known any business say ' we are doing ok, lets not worry about growing anymore' Perth offers NRL a unique opportunity in Australia. Rich, new single NRL club in 4th biggest city, history of strong participation and a WA govt willing to fund Jnrs and give the new club a leg up. But you know that.
