Graeme Hughes is talking rubbish. I was there in the corporate boxes at Magic Round in 2022 when Mark McGowan and Roger Cook were talking to Bears officials about how they would make Bears in WA work.Graeme Hughes mentioned his WA sources talking about residual annoyance at having the Bears foisted upon them.
Show offRubbish. I was there in the corporate boxes at Magic Round in 2022 when Mark McGowan and Roger Cook were talking to Bears officials about how they would make Bears in WA work.
Those 2 had approached Bears a few days earlier about it.
Roger has even made statements about Bears as a brand in WA. As recently as the other day on radio and tv. Bears in WA is very much a WA Gov concept and idea. V’Landys and ARLC simply took the pass and have been running with it ever since.

We have our own clubs looking to get in the NRL. We don't want the Bears.i heards from someone that christchurch is a fall back option that the nrl have, no necessarily norths themselves. but i also heard from someone here that @Red&BlackBear is working behind the scenes trying to get them to qld, if perth doesnt eventuate. any truth there cob?
out of those options it has to be 1 and hopefully nrl lobby with a-league and aru later downs the line as a 3 prong attack to get hbf either upgraded or get a new stadium all together. their position will be even strong if perth bears get an nrlw side down the line.
To be fair Ipswich was partnered with Newtown last time plus John singletonWe have our own clubs looking to get in the NRL. We don't want the Bears.
Mitch Cook and Richard Hughes might not agree with you there. We have our own clubs looking to get in the NRL. We don't want the Bears.
Cumins is a slim chance to come back in a highly reduced role with a very short leash, yes. Sponsorship etc.you heard any rumours about the Cumins bid getting resurrected?
The Premier isn't representative of the WA sporting fan base or their loyalty in terms of sport.Graeme Hughes is talking rubbish. I was there in the corporate boxes at Magic Round in 2022 when Mark McGowan and Roger Cook were talking to Bears officials about how they would make Bears in WA work.

Do you make a conscious effort to miss the mark with your replies? Clearly I’m chatting about the business and commercial idea and the people who will be part of the decision making into funding and investing into that idea. The Premier isn't representative of the WA sporting fan base or their loyalty in terms of sport.
Unless you think all Australians are Souths fans.
It was reported on 9News Melbourne. It's got one article on 9.com
Whoopdee f**king doo
Mcg empty. Unused. In Gather RoundWhat?? Why would the Storm play at the G?
After the way Cook and fake-Blondie have been talking in the media over the last week. I’m surprised the NRL is still interested.Look there's been three things that Im sure have grated. 1. Having to take on a Sydney club 2. Having the WA ownership kyboshed 3. The way its been played out through the media.
I'm surprised the WA govt are even still interested, Cook must be very committed!
I think we are in furious agreement here.Do you make a conscious effort to miss the mark with your replies? Clearly I’m chatting about the business and commercial idea and the people who will be part of the decision making into funding and investing into that idea.
These notions you’re insinuating can be applied to anywhere, any location, with any brand that is or isn’t the mainstay. There’s equally as many Bears fans who don’t want to go into WA as there are genuine WA RL fans who aren’t receptive to Bears. However neither group ultimately has much say because moaning on social media is vastly different being actively part of building a business case.
PNG isn’t representative of the Australian sporting landscape and yet our leaders made the decision to invest into it.
Sounds like we are both surprised then. After the way Cook and fake-Blondie have been talking in the media over the last week. I’m surprised the NRL is still interested.
I haven't watched FTA news in about 5 years. It was reported on 9News Melbourne.
Are you aware of 9News at 6pm? It’s one of the two highest rating tv programs per week.
We know they were. The WA consortium was clear at start it wanted to go it alone. NRL insisted. WA govt were happy to support either way.I think we are in furious agreement here.
I'm firmly of the opinion that the Bears were pushed on WA by the NRL, but each to their own.
Neither are youThe Premier isn't representative of the WA sporting fan base or their loyalty in terms of sport.
I doubt either is the “vast majority” at all.I've no doubt the vast majority of NS fans would rather the club was run by NS and playing at Gosford and NSO,
Likewise Ive got no doubt the vast majority of WA RL fans would rather a WA owned and branded club playing all 12 games in Perth.
But here we are so we just have to try and make it work, if we get the chance that is!
