Rather than crying like a baby maybe see that this looks like it will get over the line finally

The original Cummins bid was sh6t
Yeh $50mill was so poor. That's why the other 9 bids on the table were so closely looked at lol

Even that article suggests it was $50m. $20m licence fee plus $30m grassroots funding.

The ARLC rejected the Cumins consortium after they initially refused to pay a start-up fee. By the time the Cumins clan revised their document last December with a $20 million offer, V’landys closed the door on that bid and ramped-up talks with the WA government.

Cumins, however, is adamant his bid is not fraudulent and could resuscitate the Western Bears.

The former Western Reds chairman claims the bid was so robust they had secured $30 million in corporate support and were prepared to put $3 million annually into grassroots development.

Well…I’m still a little unsure about some of that language in that article ( resurrect his $30m private bid - where did this figure come from originally ?) …. But it appears there is also a different part you highlighted that totals $50 mil,,,

So if they take his money now …you’ll be happy right ?

Anything Trump does is wrong according to PR , he's got Trump derangement syndrome worse than Robert Dinero
That’s a shame. Trump just came out and put his support behind the Perth Bears:

“The Perth Bears makes complete sense, total sense. If I was in charge of the NRL I’d be on the phone today and I’d be like- I’d be- “Get this done now, let’s have the Perth Bears in by 2027 and get it done. It makes total sense, total sense, you know it does. Having a team again in Perth and bringing the Bears back as well would just be the best thing wouldn’t it? The NRL would win so much we’d get tired of winning.”

Nope

Especially when those grassroots won’t be producing much anyway

The better scenario is the force will be dead In five years and all the money the aru and twiggy spent on union goes to league, just like in melb
Not even like they are funding NRLWA $10mil a year now and this could reduce their costs! ANYTHING they get is massive upgrade on what the NRL currently funds grassroots WA. I hope they get more for NRLWA, I really do. I just dont think walking away and not having anything makes any sense when there is $7mill a year on the table now. That would take NRLWA funding from the current $1mil a year to $8mill a year overnight!

This still has weeks of dragging on to go …but you would have to assume the deal is going to get done …otherwise PVL would have killed it off by now

Are the Bears going to tip in any money, or was that story a myth ? Not a word from them …what are they waiting for ?

Yeah and hbf is a rugby union stadium too or a soccer one
But the cost of a HBF upgrarde would be directly tied to a NRL license. Christchurch stadium is happening regardless of if there will ever be an NRl team playing there.
Maybe we should announce Optus as our home stadium and you can tell us how the WA govt has invested $1.8bill into RL lol

Thatd be even more of slap in the face to WA. We dont want private investors from WA, but yeh we'll take Sydney private investors.

Nah it’s not

In case you haven’t been following the govt has literally said they will not be doing a ground upgrade for league

lol make up which bs path you want to take without flip flopping

I think they will end up taking Cumins money …otherwise he isn’t mentioned in this story…it’s been floating around in the Sydney media all week that he is back on the scene ..

I’m starting to really believe this has all been a ploy to make cookie look good so there’s no backlash with Pvl on board

I would be happy to see a three way ownership.
WA consortium 49%. $40mill investment
Norths 25% $20mill investment
NRL 26% investment $2mill a year to NRLW for 5 years.
WA govt $50millgrass roots over 5 years plus Cof E and agreement to revisit stadium in 2027.

When time is right the 26% NRL ownership transfers to a members collective.

Total club funding $60mill
Total grassroots funding $60mill over 5 years
That way the club has $20mill start up costs (saving to NRL)
NRLWA goes from $1mill a year to $12mill a year (WOWsers!)
And there is $40mill in the clubs kitty to provide financial security, invest in elite pathways, boost the NS Bears set up etc.

Makes sense to me!

apparently an update to the tele story

The NRL and the Western Australia government have been locked in crucial talks on Friday afternoon as they try to salvage the Western Bears side.
It is understood that the NRL heavyweights including Peter V’landys and Andrew Abdo are in the midst of meeting with WA Premier Roger Cook to try and come to some common ground to save the Perth bid.
There is a suggestion that the NRL have counter-offered the WA government asking for a deal worth about $65 million for up to the next seven years. It comes after the WA government’s proposal sent to the NRL last week which included a $35 million commitment for five years. They also made a $20 million pledge for a centre of excellence.
The NRL were originally asking for a 10-year commitment worth $120 million.
The Bears would come into the competition in either 2027 or 2028. PNG will enter the NRL in 2028.

I’m not sure about the Norths investment thing coming off …. Thats been more of a story here on the forum than in the media …if there is any money they can put forward you think it comes quickly now ..it’s time to crap or get off the pot…

I think $90-$100m between Cumins and the WA Govt probably gets it done anyway ….

Cook might have been right that the NRL needs Perth more than vice versa …

Yeh theres been no signs Norths are willing to put up a big chunk. Their finances arent really that crash hot and they fund the FC very little. But in this crazy old expansion world you never know!
