Cook is now hopeful the proposed franchise can be saved, with both parties returning to the table in recent days.
"We've made our position to the NRL very clear, and that is any deal must deliver value for WA taxpayers," Cook said in a statement.
"Since then, we've had some positive discussions, and those discussions are ongoing.
"We won't be making any further comment until those discussions conclude."

But red and black was convinced there would be Vlandys and Abdo there? Not like him to be wrong lol
To be fair, from a neutral point of view, it genuinely isn't like him to be wrong. He's the closest person to an 'insider' we have here. That's not to take anything away from the info you and others (myself included) have gleaned from people close to or associated to someone in the bid teams, by the way.

Easy now media star. As posted twice now incase you missed it ,last Monday it was pointing towards both of them and 2 commissioners attending.

As late as Thursday it looked like they were still going, if talks between the parties on Friday were deemed as positive to the point neither felt they had to attend then, so be it.

Things have been fluctuating pretty rapidly over the course of the last 2 weeks and will continue to do so into the next week and a bit between Cook and V’Landys ( no Saffioti) when they resume and ultimately conclude discussions.

The irony of you shading people for being wrong. Enjoyed any coffee with your fake contact lately?
It’s apparently high tea dates now. He has it with his fake contact and a pink elephant

perthwrongs ding dong

yeha but people like perthwrongs need to be the one. If anyone knows more about things they been crying about for 20 years than he does he feels compelled to try one up these people. He is a pathetic excuse for a rugby league fan. A liar, all he does is lie.

A team in Perth will be a great result, and the NRL can afford it. Despite people cheering against it, this is a great outcome. And it's needed for TV money.

The impending doom of the PNG side can be managed later.
Yeah just get a team in there. I don't care about code wars much anymore but its clear the AFL really doesn't want the NRL to be in Perth, that's reason enough to make it happen.

While the West Coast Eagles may recover from their current low-point by the time the WA Bears play their first NRL game, it can't be good for AFL having an announcement & all the pre-entry hype while their flagship WA-based team is in the cellar, right?

That's the point - the current form of the two WA AFL teams isn't super strong (Freemantle being kinda mid table), so they're spooked by the NRL team being a cool shiny new thing.

If they are still getting sell out crowds then I don’t think their form matters one bit

The club has one the highest turnovers out of any Australian football code on top of paying the wafl a licensee fee of around ten million pa

The good thing about rugby league is the sport isn’t delusional to think it can take over in wa like they are trying to do in nsw and qld

Perth bears will find their own nieche will be bigger then the storm

League can probably get more of the wa market than it ever can In vic

With only two fumbler clubs there’s a lot of room in Perth. Esp as the glory and force are on borrowed time

AFL can't be too greedy. They have put four teams in non heartland areas- Swans, Lions, Giants and Suns. NRL only has the Storm in non rugby league heartland.

If the AFL is concerned about a new Perth NRL team, then they are really insecure.
