No one is claiming there are 200k NRLWA fans lol
No but if you're gonna shift the goal posts and go back and correct yourself in your own comments to make a point then at least make a fairer comparison. I'm saying sadly, outside first grade, 99% of people following league don't know whats going on outside first grade. Sending a “message to the NRL” tends to be done more at the first grade level. At a NSW Cup level though, the Bears did a decent job of staying par the course and no supporters talked about boycotts or spitting the dummy.

Last time Perth had a team the crowds dwindled down to 6 or 7k.. then were folded.

Having Origins and one off double headers aren't anything to go by.
We get bigger crowds on the other side of the planet.

Central Coast has a record of sustaining decent attendance.
Weren't you arguing this morning a bigger crowd would have sent a message. Now crowds at SOO and double headers aren't anything to go by.

There was bugger all promotion around it this year, did you notice the same?

I came over.

Was walking to Perth Station enroute to the game in the footy jersey, etc and got stopped by some random woman asking if Manly were playing or something? Said she born and bred in Manly.

So, I'm going to go with absolutely no promotion whatsoever, or she was just dumb as dog shit....all things are possible I suppose.

I still think the backup plan for the NRL is to own/part-own South Island to start and that’s why they said in the media team 20 won’t be anytime real soon.

They won’t want to have both on their plate at the same time so 5 years or so to sell their share in Perth then set up for South Island if the bids don’t improve.

Or they just go with Ipswich if the Christchurch bids aren’t up to scratch.

It's your club that wants to go to Perth, not the other way around.
Actually if you want to get into specifics, it was the McGowan Government (WA Premier at the time) who first approached the Norths board about the prospect of joining up and basing Bears out of Perth as a potential WA NRL club.

Since then ARLC took the idea and championed it further. All 3 parties have since been (for the most part) rowing in the same direction. The commercial potential makes for a fantastic business opportunity for the relevant stakeholders.

Either way this ridiculous insignificant dick measuring contest here between a few posters (not you, but others) has about the impact of a flea’s fart.

If some people in WA felt that boycotting was a good idea, so be it. If some Bears fans thought that rocking up to the central coast was best, so be it. Individuals will do what they do. They don’t reflect the over all consensus and definitely don’t reflect the actual people that matter in all of this, at this current stage of on-going developments.

Why would ns fans be unhappy? Vlandys keeps telling them they are in where wherever the club is!

Ill be crying.

Why the need for another Brisbane team ? I keep hearing we need to stop AFL but is there any evidence they are taking fans from the NRL ?

Its like we are running scared of a threat that doesnt exist.
Being devils advocate, as Perth and PNG are riskier expansions, a safer location with potential may be more appetising for #20. If a redevelopment and expansion of Lang Park can be tied into that bid, then it's hard to turn that down. I'm not saying it is the right team for #20, regardless, the next 3 teams should be NZ2, Brisbane 3 and Adelaide.

Lets get Perth locked in first anyway!

This old mate from SEN Perth is saying that the deal is waiting to be “rubber stamped “ in “7 to 10 days”

NRL to run the team for 7 years and get $65 mil from Cook for “junior development” …

So adding that to the CEO and a few other odds and ends and they will probably be around $100m from the WA Govt …. Like it or lump it folks …thats probably the deal
