This is such a feel good story for the game. Not only have we brought Perth and WA back into the family, we've brought the Bears fans back into the family.

Yeah sure, the future of the Bears is all Perth as it should be, but the goodwill it creates in Sydney can't be denied, fantastic outcome.

I’m looking forward to a break from expansion, before I do this all over again for Ipswich Jets.

Love my Giants.
If this whole Bears thing took place a few years ago while I was Giants President, or anytime in the decade before while I was Secretary, I would have been all over this from a local club perspective. I envy those involved now (not enough to return, mind you..!), but I'm not envious of all the extra work that will be involved. I was up until after 3am most nights back then as it was!

I've already contacted him personally to say this, but congrats to Sacko and the whole NRL WA team for all their years of hard slog to get to this point. WA's about to get our own (mostly our own..!) NRL team again. Congrats to the NthSydney crew too. You're about to be represented in the top flight again.

While still a passionate Novocastrian and interstate member of the Knights, I will also be a member of the Perth Bears and will adopt them as my 2nd team.
Do you think there might be a surge in junior playing numbers with the introduction of your own State team.

Big stumbling block not having an NRL standard stadium though isn`t it.
interview with david crisafulli on nrl 360 and also wide world of sports over weekend he said qld gov would keep upgrading suncorp stadium to stay ahead of curve. honestly you could have em playing out of 80% suncorp and 20% cbus short term until a boutique 25k stadium is built and people would travel. it seems qld 5/seqld 4/jets has gov backing and they also had coalition (labor) backing prior.

i thinks theyll go hard. nz 2 definitely the favs but nothings guaranteed. if its qld gov backing in a huge growth area (Ippy - seqld has 4.2m ppl) vs. private backing in a stagnant growth area (Chch - south island has 1.18m ppl) i think. on metrics its pretty evens however ippy with jets brand will be worth more commercially, well now at least. who knows in 10 years time (i cants see it changing tbh).

Absolutely.
I was a junior myself in 1993-1994 era when the Reds were building. Huge surge then. All we've needed over the years since was an NRL team for the kids to aspire to play for. A direct 'home' team and the pathway it provides. Union has had that advantage over us for, what, 15+ years? Force rode in after Reds left and a lot of kids diverted to them. Now it's our turn again. Numbers will rise.

They are starting to get a little desperate now … bagging out their own pollster who tipped them to win the election ..just to try to find a very long stretch way to attack the NRL ..lol
