Waiting in the Wings

Not so PW, he had to wait his turn (which should be now) behind SBW and Nonu..

You think he'd get picked if Nonu was going overseas? No chance. He's been decent in ITM Cup but was anonymous in Super Rugby. He's probably about fifth choice midfielder behind Nonu, Smith, Crotty, DC if need be etc. He's never come into consideration.

And Fruean would be on 200 or so easy in union. Minimum Super Rugby contract a couple of years ago was 60k so I've got no reason to doubt a guy with his standing would be on 200k

Yeah exactly. So the Warriors could easily offer him a similar contract if not more. He would then have to decide if he wanted to stay being a Super Rugby player or take a bit of a gamble and give League a shot. Would have the potential to be a good player in League.

Of course a Japanese club could easily give him a mill and it all wouldn't matter.

They possibly could - but his earning potential is so much greater if he becomes an All Blacks, goes to Japan as you say, Europe or wherever. Not going to get near that if he became a Kiwi or a top NRL player, which he'd have a lot to work on especially defensively.

If Stowers has a league background, great. I just want a solid winger who can finish, is safe enough under the high ball and knows that flying in from the touchline defensively is inadvisable.

Pretty sure Stowers has a rugby league background. Agree that the warriors should be looking at him - desperately need wingers

He needs offers too.
Im pretty sure it wouild be his manager planting stories regarding interest in him.

He could easily go to uk but would rather stay in new Zealand.
His mrs plays for the NZ Women rugby team.

If they are interested in him. give him one year w/ an option.
If it doesnt work out he can go overseas.

I would rather make a play for Lelia Masaga - yes he would cost a bit more.
But would suit league .. He has a bit of a league background.

Not sure but his brother or cousin was playing for the NZ residents league team on sky yesterday.

I thought Esera went pretty well for the Residents yesterday. Anyone know anything about him?

I know of a AB in the forwards (not a first choice or long time AB though) whose on 200k, so I would say Fruen would probably be on less than that maybe 150k.

Players like Guildford would cost us way to much. Better checking for the Fruens, Rangers, etc who are good tough players but outside the AB frame at the moment.

He was in the wider NYC squad this year.
Had a killer year.

Didnt rate the kid too highly ..but he has looked good this year.
He is only 18/19 so has one more year in the 20s.
I know other clubs are after him so not sure if he will be with the warriors next year.

He is easily NYC material..potentially more.
He should of got a game this year ...instead of that 130kg prop ackland was intent to keep on picking.

People wonder why ackland may not be the best for the club.

The juniors will have some top quality wingers to choose from...
Viliami Lolohea
Esera Esera
Ngataua Hukatai
David Fusitua

+ a few more youngsters

Apparently Fruen has a heart condition which is why he's not getting picked for the ABs.
