Pogo bites the dust in a ball of flames.

Crashed & burned is normally an ugly site, but this one is quite pretty.

Can you feel his anger people?????

For the indigenous people around Sydney tonight, keep your kids inside & off the streets. A blue UTE full of pointy hats are out & they are in a bad mood.

I don't wanna get in the middle of this but a few things should be set straight.

Regardless of his opinion of Peachey's form this year, Pogo is not racsist. He was once a huge fan of Peachey's. Nor is he much of an AFL fan and he is certainly not Dragon Slayer.

There is no such thing as "once a huge fan". Nothing has changed in his game. If you were a fan 5 years ago, you would be more of a fan this year.

Reefy, he used to talk Peachey up. He doesn't any more. Why does that make him racsist?

Two points from me.

1/ I fail to see how Pogo can be labelled as racist for having such a bias against Peachey. a very long bow to draw indeed and not a very attractive bow to draw.

2/ I think you are very wrong to question peacheys commitment to the team Pogo, extremely wrong. The way he has handled himself when the far easier option was to lessen his commitment is infact a credit to himself and I expected nothing less.

You seem to have a real personal problem with David and I wish I knew what it is, because it is clearly clouding your judgement on his form this year.

but again, hasnt the forum discussed this arguement , and the same points 3 or 4 times this past 6 months in great detail ?? :)

no personal problem whatsoever black dot and you are right the issue has been done to death.

i m not a racist , peachey has been a fanntastic player, unfortunatley one bloke here needs to denigrate people to promote his point of view.

i couldnt care less how many schooners greg bird drinks how many prayer meetings simmons attends, its their footy that will be the judge.

i totally disagree with you and some others , although you guys must be pretty insular , it may help to get a better cross section of opinion.

you certainly wont get that here

I've always giving your opinion, and reefys and everyones opinion here on form a fair hearing Pogo, and I'll always do so. I also agree with you that I don't care that simmons is a christian, or that bird isn't and goes out for a beer.

Like you say you do, I make my call on the players form on the park. Simmons to my mind has done NOTHING to warrant your high opinion of him. I know you sometimes talk of his potential and the need for him to be given a go at fullback, fair call, he may turn out to be brilliant in that position, but he needs to have shown some better grasp of some basic fundementals playing at wing to win me over just yet !

On Bird, I personally don't think he has been playing in position in his first grade starts with us. I know most won't agree with my opinion on this , but I think his best chance of going good in firsts is in the centres. his play when in the centres V west tigers at campbletown was enough for me to think his future may rest out there.

I fail to see how my arguement , as laid out for you here, can make me insular ?

Peachy while still being able to play 1st grade is a long way past carving up the opposition like he used to. That is the peachy we ALL now and LOVE but i will agree with pogo and say he needs to go( but not this season next season is fine)
Simmons is doing some things right and is worth keeping i believe remember et could never tackle once upon a time, will reserve judgement till next season.
On not resigning who is to say it is not for football reasons( maybe not wanting to go the way the coach etc want to go) if i am wrong i'm sure someone will correct me.

You may have hit the nail on the head here Sparkles. Since ET retired we have not had a local hero, especially from DeLa, around to promote to the locals. Now maybe the club has decided to promote another ET, another local DeLa product with the name DS, and I don't mean Dip sh*t, I mean Dave Simmons. Now if they can colour his hair and change his facial features DS might just fit the project. That would be great but unfortunately he's not within coee of being in ET's football league.
Oh well................pass the salt please.

i am actually wondering about this ET cant tackle verbatim.
I think its time for the myth busters to get onto this one.

ET's defense improved around the same time as the interchange rule.
For mine, he was alwyas a solid hitter in tackles & had great technique.
I have never even see simmons make a driving low tackle.

not sure how off topic we're getting here but after 11 pages who cares.

it's not true that ET "could never tackle". his defence certainly improved as his experience and physique developed, but even as a debutant teenager he had the right attitude and was committed to getting stuck into his tackling.

not even worth mentioning DS in the same breath. he thinks 'tackle' refers to what ET keeps in a little box on his fishing show

Frenzy.

ET was also 17 and thrown in at fullback not babied along on the wing with a host of minders.

I saw quite a bit of Simmons at fullback at De La and it's simple - he can't tackle. He was allowed to stand out as a flash player because the team he was in was a very good team.

I wouldn't worry about Simmo being th next De La icon any more. I'd be looking a D Neilsen for that honour. Or even younger brother J Neilsen. These 2 are sh*t hot.

well well well it took a couple of weeks to get the answer, its now confirmed that raper and the club dont have the guts to drop the underperforming full back.

tolerating mediocrity as some sort of reward for peacheys past feats or fear of supporter backlash are the reasons this club is fast becoming the new north sydney!

page 42 in todays sunday telegraph confirms what most know but many refuse to accept!
