The QB card? Really? There's a major debate going on on the american sports shows about this topic at the moment, when I say debate I mean basically everyone, all the top analysts white and black, agreeing that there has been a history of racism inhibitting the success of black QBs.
Which, btw, is not a position that necessarily calls for innate athletic talent anyway. But they're starting to realise in recent years that it can help, and also that black people are not lacking in any of the other attributes the position calls for despite their previously held racist ideals, and as a result black QBs are filtering into the league more and more, despite the culture of discrimination they have faced for a century.
This season 9 of the starting 1st string qbs were black, this number will increase. In the past it has been none, in fact in the past the number of black people in the NFL has been none, now it's around 87%. This says it all really. The QB position has simply been the most stubborn because racist old white guys want to believe only a white kid has the brains to be a QB, and they have always had the power to make that a reality with their influence.
As racism gets beaten down the number of coloured individuals in all codes of all sport increases. Practically every sport has a history where at some stage it was all white guys, this was a result of racism, and now every sport is at some different stage in it's progression with combatting the racism.
The NRL used to be nearly all white guys, and how shit it was. Congrats that it is now quite colourful, this shows it to be a legitimate professional sport open to all who have the talent, rather than a private white guy club. Which is what it used to be, and what most sports used to be. The quarterback position has been it's own little private white guy club, and finally now the doors are being kicked down.
