Don't want to be a downer but I heard today that it's now highly likely Widdop will be gone next year.

If it eventuates we will be in a bit of a pickle. Not easy to replace a 5/8.

But excellent win!!!

Will you be betting $1m on this? I'm looking to extend the shed.
Haven't we already been through this about eleventy million times?

I think widdop needs to organise and benji needs to pick and choose his moments to run. Sometimes the more benji tries, the worse the outcome.

A big factor today also was Rein, he seemed to really go up a few gears when Marshall left. The challenge is if he can do this most weeks. Problem is, rein will give you one of these standout performances every few months, then the coach thinks he can play the full 80 minutes, only for him to have a shocker the following week. Today really showed how important it is to have a utility on the bench.

Widdop has played 2 previous games without Benji why not the same result? I would not go be calling for the axing of Benji just yet.

Benji set up the second try with a pass only probably JT could have thrown. Absolute class act. Warriors were down 10-0 and when they go down a couple of tries never really come back and win. The damage was done. Not taking away from Widdop he was brilliant but I would rather Benji with Widdop in the halves than without. If anything this game may have boosted Widdop's confidence to demand the ball more and make Benji feel more at ease and not have to try and score or create a try with every play.

I agree! Benji is a great player and when he is on, he adds a lot to our side.

Now, will it be one of our young halves to step up against the Broncos or will Mary stick with De Belin filling the role in Benji's absence?

Benji just needs to show a bit more faith in Widdop. And Widdop needs to be more assertive when Marshall looks to be hogging the ball.

Not aware of anyone calling for Marshall to be axed. It would be rash to do so. But for what it's worth, I rate Widdop higher as a long term investment. He comes across as potentially more consistent, a natural leader and has the hallmarks of a complete Rugby League player. Plus he has more years left in him than Marshall.

Sorry to disagree but that was heart in mouth stuff. The way I saw it, he threw the pass without looking to an unmarked winger, who had some work to do just to catch it. Ball should have been on the chest but instead he had to dive forward to save the situation. Marshall was looking at the defence when he threw the ball. It looked fancy, but didn't need to be.

The same proposition presented itself not longer afterwards but this time he ignored the unmarked winger and ran at the line, ultimately losing possession.

These are just examples of the hit and miss nature of Marshall. Great relief when the kicks and passes go well, but frustrating when they go wrong.

For better or worse, that is part of his game. But it invites a level of inconsistency.

Not sure what you mean by "the damage was done" but FTR, Marshall left the field when we were leading 4-0, not 10-0. And the second try was manufactured by Rein. The Warriors were still in the match imo, and came close to scoring on at least two occasions. We only really gained the ascendancy early in the second half.

IMO, the forwards having a go had far more influence on the match than Marshall's 15 minutes on the field. The effort made greater because they did it with less time on the bench (Matthews in particular being forced off in the opening minutes).

I think the point is the attack looks a lot more polished when there is a single playmaker running our plays. Probably because this simplifies the attack which I think is a good thing seeing combinations are still new. With Marshall off the field, there was no choice but to go through Widdop.

When they are both on the field, roles still look a little blurred to me.

Agree we need them both, but their roles need to be clearly defined. More of a coaching issue to me.

The most pleasing part of the last 2 wins is we've started playing football, rather that predictable robotic crap. I hope McGregor has realised it doesn't work.

Should benji and widdow swap jerseys (and positions) Garrath being more settled could control the play better as first receiver and let benji show his flair at 6 instead..

Good question, while all seems good, I don't think it would hurt and maybe they already do it at training, to swap a few positions around even if they were only used as a oncer, depending on the game and situation.
Would certainly confuse the hell out of the enemy if Marshall was at center, dugan 5/8,marshall and widdop swap and so on.

Plenty of talent in this team and they are more than capable of doing a couple of sets to obtain a good result

Baked horse with turnip sauce anyone?
