Yes I want to keep him, however this seems very early for me as he is signed with us until the end of next year.

Yeah this is either very poor reporting or there is an opt out clause in his contract.

Yeah the thing is you don't wait until the last minute to re sign your captain and best forward. He's off contract next season by my research so we need to extend him this year.
Assuming there are no player options on the last year of his contract.

Why would he stay? Because he has his family set up in NZ, including a young kid. And if he sticks around, IMO, he'll be presented with a long list of post career opportunities. Either with the club or in the media or in the corporate world doing what Pricey's doing at the moment. Mannering's a smart bloke, he knows that, he'll stay without any shadow of a doubt.

A major clean out is required at seasons end, I don't care if we have to give away most of our so-called star players.

A change in the admin office too is required.
