Compared to what the Warriors have sacrificed the Storm‘s hardships are nothing, and if we start offering recompense to everybody that’s been inconvenienced by covid-19 then a bunch of clubs and people are going to come out requesting that their misfortunes are made right, then it’ll become hard to offer any of them a thank you for their sacrifice without either giving all of them one or it looking like the NRL is playing favourites.

Exactly. We'd have to even it up with Parra getting next to no Bank West games as those bald merkins have hardly left their driveway this year.

Yes, but no fans, so to even it out, next year at Bankwest, all home games are to have 60,000 fans. Someone has to sit on your lap.

All the 'away' games should be outside of Auckland.

If they make finals they should have to travel to AUS if an away game.
Maybe allow one of them in Auckland and use it as a big celebration to say thank you to their families, friends, and fans in Auckland. It’s not just the club and players that have suffered because of this you know.

If the NRL really wants to buy player’s wives rings these ones deserve it more than any others lol.
Seriously though, it might be a good idea to think about giving the Warriors wives a thank you of some sort because this time would have sucked for them more than anybody else.

You all appear to be assuming that the C-19 will have magically disappeared by next year.

It won't have but we'll be more acclimatised to and accepting of it by then. It'll be the 'new flu' and we cop deaths at a certain level. Nobody gonna lockdown for COVID come spring let alone next year.

Seems a great initiative and a fair compensation for their sacrifices to get the comp up and running in 2020.

will be interesting to see what the excuse is next year though when they inevitably underachieve yet again

I would fully support the Sharks forgoing home (Kogarah) matches to be played in NZ, and if the Warriors are smart they will play home games at Mt Smart and the others whch would be away games around NZ - Wellington, Hamilton etc. Take the game to the NZ people.

It would be one game each club gives up, I think very reasonable.

For example, if we’re going to give back to the Storm for them having to move out of Vic, then why not give back the home games that the Knights and Raiders lost because they couldn’t play in their home cities, why not give back to the Sydney clubs that couldn’t play at their home grounds, why not compensate the players and officials who’ve had it tough because of the NRL’s bio-security rules, etc, etc.

The Warriors deserve something for their sacrifice, but everybody else should only get something if it’s purely symbolic.

I do get where you are coming from here, it is a slippery slope.

However, if the storm remain in QLD for the remainder of the season including finals which is a distinct possibility then @moffla has a point. Storm would clearly be the 2nd most inconvenienced club with no one else really coming close. Melbourne based people staying in QLD for months on end is really no different to NZ people staying in NSW for months on end.

Being storm though there would be an epic meltdown if they were given more home games even if it was warranted.

Not a bad idea if travel is back to something close to normal by then. Spreading the extra 12 around to other cities around NZ would be a better idea in my opinion.

On a slightly different note I don't see why NZ couldn't host some internationals once the NRL season is done to give the fans some games this year. Fly Tonga, Fiji and Samoa/PNG over, do the 14 days, give them a week to train and play a quick series.

Victorians can go and fraged up the arse with a big pole.

merkins.

Not the storms fault.

NZ did well, Victoria let the country down, as it always does.
