WTF, the dogs got caught cheating and where stripped of all their points all 28 of them and a guarenteed GF win.

The warriors if they dont start the season minus points should be boycotted by all fans not just dogs ones, and the dogs should take the NRL to court.

They cheated on the most serious issue is their is and must be cracked down upon extremely hard. I'd say the same if it was the knights we have the cap for a reason.

Fully agree sir knight. The precedent has been set and the NRL have really backed themselves into a corner over this issue. If they are let off with fines or letting players go to get under the cap and there is no point penalty I am sure the Bulldogs would have the right to sue for millions in lost earnings, after all can you put a price on a premiership. I wouldn't say a guarenteed GF win was on the cards but they did look like real good things, they had the Roosters measure at the end of the year and I'll bet Ricky breathed a huge sigh of relief when the dogs got the arse.

Do you think the Dogs should have got their points deducted when they where only 1/3 more in violation JoeD?

To me this will set a precident, many headaches ahead for Davey boy Gallop me thinks.

Considering they had played the majority of the season with a team over the salary cap then the NRL rightly deducted points. Had the Warriors been found out 15 rounds in then by all means deduct their points.

The Warriors will probably start the season back under the cap should players be released or pay cuts taken. Fines will be imposed for previous season indiscretions.

So its alright that they cheated in previous seasons? To me there's no difference what so ever and they need to be penalised very harshly indeed.

We arent talking about 50k or even 250k here we are talking about 1 million dollars thats a very serious indescrition and a example needs to be made.

If your solution is to dock the warriors 28 points before the season starts, what incentive is there for any of the players, fans, sponsors to show up in their respective roles? Were the record books changed for the other years the dogs were over?

Looks like one prediction of my signature will come true already without so much as seeing the first knock on

If the Warriors start under the cap it's not even close to what the Dogs did.

How the hell do you figure that one out? Oh that's right it's your Bulldogs hatred again. Hate makes you say these things.

If both teams cheated the salary cap by enormous amounts then both should receive harsh penalties. One club has already received a harsh penalty for their breaches and now we wait and see if the other will as well. I believe it shouldn't matter what season they were over, all clubs know that the penalty for cap breaches are loss of competition points no matter when it is revealed.

Personally I think the 6 points that has been mentioned and a fine is a harsh enough penalty, it will almost certainly guarantee them no place in the finals and odds-on for the spoon.

Same for me :). I actually put the Warriors for the spoon in a ladder prediction thread on here I think. So that could be 2/2 Before the NRL season has even started!

Was there any evidence the dogs were over in years past?

I think that 6-10 points would be sufficient.

The Dogs weren't over just in the year they were caught....

That's right, it was found that the breach did stretch back at least 2-3 years.

Most clubs who breach the cap are fined. In the extraordinary instance of the Dogs breach a penalty of points being stripped was also introduced.

If they were to be fined very heavily with no deduction in points - which could be likely given no games have been played at this stage - would that be still fair? Considering they would have to reduce their salary cap to come under this season it could still result in the release of more players.

Depends of how bad the breach is. Wait for more info to come out.
4-10 points should be sufficient at this stage.
Cant be the same as the dogs as it is a different situation and the NZ breach was picked up long before round 20 2006. The Dogs were fined all their points to that stage and rightfully so.

I think that a loss of points is a must now. The NRL have stated that any serious breaches will results in a deduction of competition points. With 6 points deducted it still doesn't rule them out of the competition entirely, but does ensure that they start at a disadvantage compared to the other clubs that are not in breach of the cap.
