Manu to vulcans please. Fish to the wing. Inu replace Ropati. Maloney to work on his kicking. Locke to uppercut himself. Great game tho.

At least its not boring to watch like about a dozen other teams in the comp. But seriously Ropati and Henry over Inu is  by the coach who can do no wrong. Plus bad use of the interchanges as well.

It was a good game, and will be seen as such after the initial emotion wears down. It's upsetting after waiting so long for round one to lose, but someone has to. And very frustrating to get a great crowd along at home to promote the game, only to lose-again. Disappointing.
Some good signs though, some glimpses makes me think it will be a year of entertainment. Some frustratingly sloppy moments though, and points gifted from brain explosions. But it's round one!
I wanted to win this one badly, for so many reasons- Eden Park, big crowd, Manly is our real bogie side...but shit happens. If I wanted to watch something I knew the outcome of I'd watch a romcom! ;-)

I am interested to know what is so bad about Inu's attitude that he gets knocked out of the mix so fast. There MUST be more to it than what we see, because he can be an utter gamebreaker when on song

Inu is two times the centre that Henry is and a 10 month out of the game Ropati. I couldn't care less if it doesn't look like he is putting 100% in while they run truck and trailer drills at practice. The guy has to be a starting centre for us.

Benry into centres at last minute is a total wtf moment. I knew exactly where we were headed when I saw that. Not fair on Hurrell who needs as much game time as possible (imo) and not fair on Benry to chuck him in against someone like Matai.

Personally I'd never have Mannering, Taylor and Benry on the field all at the same time. They're far too much the same style of player. Can't wait till we get Rapira back so Ta'ai can hopefully go back to being a second rower, or Rapira jr can step up.

I'm not terribly worried about that game, tbh. Obviously we showed some cobwebs, but that shit can be gotten rid of. I reckon our attack looked twice what it was under Cleary, and that's only gonna get better too. Given Mateo, Johnson and Hurrell stay fit, we have certain game breakers (I'd count Vatuvei in that too, but....you know) and obviously the forwards to dominate nearly anyone.

Thanks to everyone for their support and comments, had a good, happy weekend with Dad, still waiting to have more tests and treatment, don't know for sure how long he has got. Pity we lost, but we will bounce back this weekend against Parra, hopefully with Inu playing.
