Warriors very unlucky

Following their huge win over the hapless Roosters, the Warriors now find themselves in the eight - well at least they would have been if they hadn't been docked 4 points.

The decision to strip them of the points was perplexing to say the least. The breach occurred in a different year and under a different management and coaching structure.

They have the third best points differential in the league, and deserve to be in the top eight. If I was a Warrior's fan, I'd be absolutely outraged.

You're kidding me aren't you?

The Bulldogs did the same thing in different years also- the dogs had an illegally assembled team and were docked points.

The Warriors were no different and deserved to lose points. You can't cheat the salary cap anymore especially by such a margin.

it may have been in a different year and under a different management, but because of it happening it allowed them to get players like Price, Wiki etc onto contracts when they perhaps might not have been able to get them otherwise.

First two responses sum it up. The reason they have gone so well is because of an illegally assembled team. Would have been more of an outrage if they had made the eight.

They would have taken the Raiders spot by the way...

Inconsistent?

We've won 8 of our last 11, and would be entrenched in the 8 were it now for the -4, with the ability to go as high as 6th if we won last week. In terms of being able to give the competition a shake, we'd do a lot better than the likes of the Raiders.

Please tell me that Wiki and Price were bought under the salary cap ??.;-)

They deserved to be docked 4 points. If they were a little better they would have made the 8 anyway. That said I'v been enjoying watching them play over the last couple of months. Wiki has been playing like a man possessed.

ive followed parra my whole life but im a kiwi and will always have a soft spot for the warriors.

mate, i would love to agree with you but i just cant...
to be totally honest i think they got off lightly.

i can understand the frustration though, afterall... its the warriors fans that really suffer from all of this.

as for the dogs breach... i really felt sorry for most of theyre fans also. but they cheated the cap and got what they deserved.

The players are unlucky sure as they've played well enough to be in the eight, however the punishment had to be served. At least we're looking good for next year, if our current form continues we'll be looking like top 4 material and a genuine title threat.

the warriors cheated end of story. it may not have been in this year but the cap was still cheated. the punishment was set when the dogs got docked points in 2002.

luckily for the warriors they came forward with the information themselves and before the season started. if this happened during the season I am sure the warriors would have been docked maybe close to similar points the dogs were.

it is a bit sad as myself being a warriors fan of what could of been. the team is playing like a top 8 team and are in good form. although they haven't made the eight me and many other fans take heart in that we could finish 9th which is fantastic considering the -4points and previous seasons.

Too many ifs and buts here. The Storm may have treated the ball with more respect had the Warriors been a finals contender and hence won that game.

Its a little embarassing having fans of other clubs speaking for us, no matter how many times we reiterate how we feel about the penalty.

We deserved the punishment. Not because we cheated but because we got caught. Obviously it was a very hard decision for the NRL to make because it pretty much killed our season before it begun for the fans, and hence the crowds have been awful and the game has suffered hugely in New Zealand.

The team has worked bloody hard this year and deserves to play in the finals, but there is no way the breach could go unpunished.
