For the sake of discussion, what about the teams that are over the cap every single year, ie Melbourne? How long until a fine is not an adequate deterrant?

    Great Point. The message has been sent to clubs that just make sure you only breach the cap by a meagher amount or better still your second tier cap (sometimes unavoidable with injuries) and you will get a slap on the wrist

The only reason it's a shame imo is because they would have caused some severe damage in the finals!

They'll be very hard to beat next year imo.

Unfair??? Take Ruben Wiki and Steven Price (who you never would have got if you didnt't cheat) out and you would be contending for the spoon this year

Exactly right, the reason they are doing well cause of Kevin Campion and Ivan Cleary, they were part of sides in 2001 and 2002. They were successful in that period and they are now back to get them back to success. Dont be surprised if they make the top 8 next year, as long as Price and Wiki stay injury free.

The ex Cowboys are also doin well, Gatis, Luck and Fien. And what about Rovelli, no-one heard of him at the start of the year.

It is a shame theyve missed the 8, but it'll do em good next year knowing they missed out cause of salary cap breach.

Warriors are only very unlucky because we are trying to forget it!

You would notice nearly all, if not every single Warriors supporter is accepting our clubs punishment.

If you let us forget this season, and let us draw the positives, you would find that there wouldnt be much complaining.

they arnt unlucky for being docked 4 points which may very well cost them a finals berth
they are extremely lucky that they wernt docked more points. The Dogs were docked 37 for a breach not too far from the warriors level. 4 points was a soft penalty. id have given them a points deduction slightly below the dogs, 25ish would have been suffice

25 points after being under the cap for this year (and coming 2nd last last season)? What good would having the Warriors start this season on -25 do the game? They may as well just have kicked them out of the comp...

Anyway the proof is in the pudding...the warriors have missed the 8 (which is exactly what the NRL wanted).

you pricks mugged us of Rubin Wiki with your dirty money, 25 points is a moderate punishment for that, if i were in charge every single one of you bastards would have faced the firing squad... rubes should have never had to play against the green machine (and yes im aware it was his choice to sign but im still sour over it ok, so deal with it! :p)

Fair dinkum.

What part of Who the f**k Cares don't you mongs get?

f**k me. Fans of the club have been over this since about middle of March. And here you nagging moaning handbags are still going on about it.

What part of this "We were wrong - we got punished - we did the crime, we do the time" do you not get? We're not flying white flags asking for pity. We're not begging for mercy. We don't want your BS sympathy.

What we do want though is for this sort of thread not to be started each and every week.

The facts are these

We cheated
We got caught
We had a very poor start to the season
We had a very good end to the season

Nothing more, nothing less needs to be said. Stop you're drooling and focus on the team's that rightly made the top 8, OR put focus on the Warriors for the right reasons. Then again, most of you only watch the Nein games quite clearly so there's no point really discussing Warriors matters any further, is there?

The Melbourne Storm clearly have permission from the NRL to cheat the salary cap?

You simply cannot equate the Warriors cap issues to the Storm.

The Storm will continue to blatantly flaunt to cap and will never be docked points, period.

As recently history has shown, even if it takes the next hundred years or so to tap into the Victorian market the Storm will be allowed to do as they please.

As the recent events with young Steve Turner has clearly shown, money is no object and the salary cap is clearly not a hinderance to the Storm.

Warriors very unlucky to be caught CHEATING.

:D :D

Did the Warriors not admit to cheating? I thought so?

As I have said many times before the NRL will not have credibility until such time as a draft accompanies the salary cap and as we all know this will never happen as it would seriously impact upon the more powerful clubs in the NRL. I say this notwithstanding the draft was originally was defeated in the courts by the ' players association '.

Bottom line is the Warriors went a lot better than anyone thought they would this year, given they were starting from behind. You have to give credit to the players and coaches for not just writing off the season, and getting pretty close to making the eight.

Can't argue with the original penalty though, and it's unfortunate for this year's players, coaches and owners that they were paying for the errors of those gone before. Not unlucky, not wrong, just unfortunate.

I can understand why Raiders and Dogs fans will have a go, but won't other clubs supporters just drop it?

If you have a problem, take it our management...err..ex-management not the fans.

Out of this, i can really understand what the Dogs fans were going through in '02 but they had it even worse, MP lost, most likely premiers. Gone, they had to go through the season with hope to be shot down so late.

Following their huge win over the hapless Roosters, the Warriors now find themselves in the eight - well at least they would have been if they hadn't been docked 4 points.

The decision to strip them of the points was perplexing to say the least. The breach occurred in a different year and under a different management and coaching structure.

They have the third best points differential in the league, and deserve to be in the top eight. If I was a Warrior's fan, I'd be absolutely outraged.

And I bet you thought that when the Dogs got caught as well ?

If anything they are lucky. Lucky they didn't get caught at the end of the season and lose all their points. Yes the have a good points differential but the Dogs won 20 games in 2002 and we finished last.

wish we had the opportunity.

Yeah but that was for direct cheating that season.

Yeah I think we deserve what we got, I'm not concerned about the punishment as I think it was fair and could have been worse. We kinda got set up by previous management which we all knew was sub par and complained about regularly during their tenure, we're just happy we've turned the page since and I think the Warriors play is finally reflecting that.

Really the Warriors are perennial under achievers as we have a lot of resources to call on and a bunch of talent within our reach. All we need to be truely dominant is a better development path as the Bartercard is not up to standard for bringing some of these young NZ'ers through, they only truely develop properly when they play offshore. Otherwise it's a baptism of fire at the top level playing for the Warriors.
