Warriors very unlucky

The Bulldogs did the same thing in different years also- the dogs had an illegally assembled team and were docked points.

The Warriors were no different and deserved to lose points. You can't cheat the salary cap anymore especially by such a margin.

The Bulldogs only lost points in the year they cheated the salary cap. Not the following year when they weren't over the cap.

A fairer result would have been to subtract a number of points off the Warriors last year, so they finish further down the ladder.

The Warriors were not unlucky...they are too inconcistent to be able to make the 8.

They've won 8 of their last 11.

First half of the year was a lull due to a combo of things like trying to find who the best halves combo was, and getting over the -4. After that, they've been more consistent than most mobs.

Its a little embarassing having fans of other clubs speaking for us, no matter how many times we reiterate how we feel about the penalty.

Exactly.

We understand the predicament we're in, but look forward to 2007.

I'm confident 2007 will be a very good season.

I'm not making any comments on the decision to strip the Warriors' points, but gee, if they still had those 4 points, it would have added a hell of a lot more interest to next weeks clash at Suncorp.

It's still going to be a good game.

There is just something about Warriors-Broncos matches in recent time.

Shame Meli isn't playing, always good to see him try to hospitalize Brent Tate. Tate must've mouthed off to him once upon a time or something.

The -4 pts penalty may well have improved our season on what it could have been.

This years side has been one of the most motivated I've seen, round 1 through to the end. Having your back up against the wall from the very beginning will do that.

They were very seldom comprehensively beaten this season, have gameplans based around good completion rates, which they more often than not attained, and have notched up impressive numbers in both the for & against stats. So I dont know why people are giving them the 'inconsistent' tag.
Lacking in the quality playmaker department? Perhaps. But inconsistent? Bullsh*t to that.

I'd rather Manu and Blinky on the wings, at least they aren't as error prone. Or, in Manus case, he can at least make up for his error.

The Warriors may be considered unlucky but they blatantly flouted the rules and breached the salary cap. Hard to feel sorry for them under those circumstances. May not be the only club breaching the salary, rather the only ones to get caught this season. I know it will never happen but the NRL needs a ' draft ' to compliment the salary cap. A ' draft ' is the only true way to even out playing talent in the competition. Without a draft there will remain the selected few clubs who will continue to syphon off the high profile players who become available on the open market.

FFS...it seems that every single time warriors win this topic comes up again. They deserved to be stripped of 4 points..In fact i thought that it was an easy punishment on them. Getting 4/6/8/10 points stripped off for the previous season..what is that going to do? Warriors finish 4 places lower?

Nobody will care about it anyway, and it will hardly stop teams going sh*t now from buying players and getting caught a few years later. They breached the cap to buy players which they shouldn't have...they deserved to lose 4 points. Lucky the NRL were easy enough to still give the Warriors a chance this year. The rules that the Warriors breached still applied to this year, as they still had their Pricey's, Wiki's etc. Can you imagine the outrage if Bulldogs in 2002 lost say 20 points for the 2001 season and 17 points for the 2002 season in proportion to the breach?? We would have still made the top 8 and who knows.

Yes i feel sorry for the Warriors fans, but far out if it were the Bulldogs there is no way in hell we would get all these other supporters on here supporting us..I guess thats the price you pay for success? ;-)

Quoted for truth.

They took Ruben Wiki off us by going over the salary cap and they don't deserve a punishment???

When a player gets suspended for 10 matches for a high tackle in round 26, he serves the suspension in the following year. Not the year in which the illegal play occured.

You commit a crime in the past - you must pay for it it in the future.

The Warriors got off lightly.

For the sake of discussion, what about the teams that are over the cap every single year, ie Melbourne? How long until a fine is not an adequate deterrant?

We went into this season knowing we had to pay for past management deceit, and can only trust the management we have now is above board. They are definitely more open and approachable with the supporters.

For the Warriors fans this year is summed up with ' If only..'
The way the boys have been playing in the latter half of the season, the word on our lips for next year will be ' When..'

Cleary and co have started to get the mix right, and 2007 is starting to look promising.

Following their huge win over the hapless Roosters, the Warriors now find themselves in the eight - well at least they would have been if they hadn't been docked 4 points.

The decision to strip them of the points was perplexing to say the least. The breach occurred in a different year and under a different management and coaching structure.

They have the third best points differential in the league, and deserve to be in the top eight. If I was a Warrior's fan, I'd be absolutely outraged.

no as a warriors fan what i am outraged is people saying we would have in the 8 if it wasn't for our previous management. we are trying to forget it and get onto 2007 especially after winning the last 8 out 11.
